WiFi issues

Sorry to hear that. This is my main point on the weakness of the QC’s Wifi. Other devices work fine, and the only one that does not is the QC. So the problem is certainly with the QC and I would imagine its internal wifi antenna… I did find a solution with getting the T-Mobile internet for 50.00 a month. I needed a better speed anyways. But it is frustrating when people have something like the best Comcast/Infinity etc… and yet cannot get a good connection. I would add that as much of a big deal this can be to some of us that the actual file sizes that are being downloaded are very small in comparison to most things. So all in all it is more of an inconvenience than a big problem to me. Are you enjoying your QC otherwise? I have had mine almost a month now. It is truly an amazing device! I have to remember the music is what it is all about in the end!

I don’t know if I can get T Mobile here in Belgium, I have to look it up. Anyhow, I am enjoying the unit. So far it’s the only thing I don’t like about it.

I actually had problems when I first set up Comcast internet access. The router they provide groups both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands under the same SSID by default. This was causing connectivity problems for some of my 2.4Ghz devices. The solution was to manually configure the router to have differently named SSIDs for the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. Smooth sailing after that. I know that won’t fix everyone’s connectivity issues with the QC’s WiFi adaptor, but it is the first step to take.

was reviewing some old notes today and came across a post written by a user who discovered all his connection issues were caused by using OpenDNS servers; changing to a default router server solved his problem.
Just in case that helps anyone searching in the future.

I’m sure there are 100’s of users that have 10’s if not 100’s of devices that all work dandy until they have to deal with their Quad Cortex.

I myself have a wifi network with 75 devices churning away, all day long with 0 issues. The QC is like a 20% success rate. I finally got around this by turning on wifi sharing with my mac. I run hard-wired to my mac then let my mac share that hard-wired connection via wifi and it’s magically delicious.

Yes, i solved my problem and it seems like everyone else solves their issues with 1 of 10 wonky ways to get around the problem.

I’ve also tested my current 6e TP link mesh routers and my old eero pro 5 mesh setup… same issue on both systems.

Note: I have been running mine using Ubiquiti Networks UniFi mesh system without issue since early adoption of the unit. Please keep things constructive and continue to email support@neuraldsp.com to log these issues and help resolve them.

I have constant Wi-Fi connection problems despite being 3m from my WAP. There’s obviously a design issue with the Wi-Fi.

That’s really strange, because everybody knows the the QC WiFi is bad. Even my oven that is located three rooms across from my router has a better connection than the QC, which is located 3m across from my router.

It definitely is.

I’m not sure where this thread can go. I’m not suggesting it be closed, but it doesn’t feel like a problem that can be solved, since it appears to be part of the hardware implementation.

My QC reports a weak signal, whereas other devices on the same desk report a very strong signal.

Where to go with this other than to accept the shortcoming?

yeah, I didn’t phrase that very well. It’s not directed at anyone specifically-
I’m just wondering how some users have never had any problems if it’s really a hardware issue

Proximity to an AP with no obstruction, very little congestion on the channels used, some other compatibility conflict I’m not familiar with…

That’s my guess, anyway. This one is far more observable and easy to replicate than some of the more obscure power / noise issues that pop up occasionally.

I’m really not bitching about it since for me, it’s working adequately - just. If I weren’t venturing into the settings to see it nagging about the weak connection, I wouldn’t know it was a thing.

Sure feels like hardware. I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

Had an experience that may be of assistance to the development team and may be helpful in diagnosing a solution (Or it could be nothing, lol).

Short version - could the issue be simply that there are too many networks to choose from?

At my house the Cortex has, and always has, run flawlessly through my wifi router. However, i took the Cortex to a relatives (a large apartment), where everyone had wifi, and noticed i could not connect to his router. It was not listed and yet there were 5-6 (dont recall the max number) to choose from. In the cortex defense, I attempted this with 3 seperate iPhones (mine and 2 other family members) having the same issue. It listed ~12 networks, but lets you search networks by name.

A Solution? - could having the option to blocking a network or removing a network (leaving room for more choices) be a solution?

Thanks for the feedback! I also saw a recent post where they statically added the QC MAC to their router which allowed the connection to complete. With 2.0, your WiFi MAC is now indicated which will hopefully help someone.

My partial solution to accessing WiFi for the first time: go into the router menu 1) to make sure that theSSDI you are using is 2.4G. I had to create another SSDI on my Asus router to split the 5G from the 2.4G. Then 2) make the 2.4G network as dumb as possible. Like it’s 1990’s vintage. Disable anything that is making it faster or better. Finally 3) Only use letters and numbers in both the name and password for the 2.4G network. Keep it as simple as possible. Best of luck!
