I totally agree, the 65W power supply driving the CRUX seems to be the cleanest and simplest solution with CIOKS components. This avoids the need for stacking Flex cables across multiple outputs to power the QC.
Optionally, you could add in the Hi5 mod which has a 24V pass-through. In that case, you would go 24V from the power supply to the Hi5, then 24V from the Hi5 over to the CRUX. This gives you five spare power connections on the Hi5 for pedals, LED lights, USB port, etc.
One other variation worth mentioning is with the Strymon PS-124 instead of the Temple Audio 65W power supply. Both provide 24VDC via EIAJ-05. The Strymon is roughly $10 less ($39 vs. $49 in US) and slightly more compact (4.2″ x 2.2″ x 1.3” vs. 4.6" x 2.2" x 1.4"). The main downside of the PS-124 is that it is lower power (24W). It could only power the QC/CRUX; anything else would be pushing it. If you think you might want to add in the Hi5 in the future, I would stick with the Temple Audio 65W supply (which is what I did).
If you want to go ultra low cost (under $20 total) and compact, there is discussion in another forum thread regarding a lower cost power brick + adapter cable. You would need to find your own mounting solution (e.g., Dual Lock) but it could work if you only need to power the QC.
