Fully agree with ‘IllegalGardner’. I have an AX8, I spent a lot of time seeking really strong presets, but I never got to the point of having a list of ‘go to’ scenes that I fully trusted in all venues. I was always making tweeks, and then hating the results. (yes - I know my fault). I know the sound I want, I just can’t seem to dial it. My place of the FM3 delivery came and I passed it by with the ‘promise’ of the ‘Quad’.
So i got the Kemper Stage and a Mission Gemini cab, and now have several really great Performances dialed in. Problem - I think the Kemper Stage effects are rather weak.
My hope is that the Quad will provide the best of the Fractal and the Kemper; user friendly, easy for luddites (like me), great effects, power and durability.
So I’ll hang in there and wait the delay out, but I do find it a bit of a drag not truly knowing when delivery will be. Just as well I can’t gig with the CA lockdown, but I’d love to work out the Quad kinks before we all start to hit the bars and clubs again.
Not to rain on the Fractal parade but, wouldn’t the Helix be a better alternative for getting a unit in the meantime while the QC does not arrive? The UI is much better, price point is lower and I haven’t heard any bad tones coming from it. Also a lot of form factor to choose from
Depends on which Fractal. Assuming you can live with its limitations, FM3 by itself (no external controller) is cheaper than Helix (and QC). If you’re mostly editing on your computer, usability is pretty comparable to Helix. Fractal also has the best factory presets I’ve tried. Yeah, there’s lot of crazy parameters you can get into, but you can great sounds with the more basic ones.
I’m no Fractal fanboy, though I used to be one. Don’t see myself ever owning another one but the AxeFx Ultra and AxeFx II that I owned were great units, particularly for their time. If the Fractal-style deep editing is your thing, then by all means rock on. Just not my bag any more.
But if you can live with the limitations the HX Stomp would be the same tone and UI as the Helix on a lower budget. I don’t know the price of the FM3 but I’m assuming it is more than the HX.
Even though you would often see PODs used by professionals, it’s undeniable that Fractal were the ones who started the very high quality digital units that would be almost indistinguishable from analog systems, that we have to give them credit for
Below is a copy of the post made by D20 (Jan 10th) in the thread titled ‘Online Quad Cortex Content’ . I seem to remember that Neural said they would not issue the manual until the Quad’s release, as why do so and then have to reissue it with all the updates.
If the Manual is heading for imminent release … then is the long wait ending this week???

“Just to keep everyone excited! I know that I am!!! I heard that the manual will be released next week I believe. To me it feels like since influencers are receiving theirs…worldwide shipping has to be just around the corner!”
It was posted on TGP that the manual is out this week and Doug clarified that the manual is easier to make than the actual QC but beta testing is going well.
This says to me that it’s going to be another couple of weeks but everything is going well.
Hopefully someone can put a link to the forum post.
As far as it has been told the Units from T1&T2 should be allready assembled. But i guess there are still some delays comming. If it will ship before mid february i would be surprised.
I just bought one this morning from Cosmo and they said to me they had 5 left… So I guess the numbers are ok! They said to me they expect them by them end of february.
Super excited to see all the recent videos getting posted on Youtube. With lots of clean and edge of break up tones. What I’m not very excited about is hearing about retailers (like Cosmo) having stock and selling them before Tier 1&2 folks get their units. I’m in the tier 1 batch and put my deposit on the a OC in January of 2020. I hope that Neural will be shipping the Tier 1 & 2 orders soon.
No dealers have their stock of QC’s. Those all ship out after tier 1 and 2 pre orders are fulfilled. This has always been the case and is not going to change.
I think allot of us are speculating which is understandable considering we have $1500+ set aside in pre-orders. I understand the need to control the product launch and news, but even a vague update as to shipping dates make us happy. I’m super excited about the QC, I’d just like a solid word if Feb is realistic.
I remember the nightmare for FM3 delays, waitlists, and so on…
I hope that with QC it won’t be the same. Hope that the first week of february will be the right week!
Last development update was a month ago and then they did not give any estimate. They just said last updates would be further apart. They used to give biweekly updates.
So there is nothing firm about schedule. Doug said on tgp that he is not under pressure to release before they are ready. They are either getting ready for imminent launch or we get a new update in start of Feb in which case there will be one month more to sit tight. That is my speculation.
