Sarcasm? Seriously.
That’s what the initial post of this thread is about
I think we can use external switch.
In manual there Is a indication on the DC port i suppose: Risk of deformation and/or short circuit or Little arcs (if done a lot of time)
But i bet that we can Power off the unit with esternal switches on our Power lines without problem.
Stay tuned
I honestly wasn’t trying to be sarcastic. The post I replied to asked where the power button was. Look right before my post.
How have so many people in this thread not thought to use the power switch on the QC? I’m so used to the Kemper and Helix that I never thought to just pull the plug haha
There have been other threads / discussions in this forum where the prevailing wisdom (at the time?) was that it was OK to simply shut off power to the QC or pull the plug and it would not cause harm.
Not sure what is happening here, but I almost always take the extra step of manually turning off the QC with the power button.
It’s not really about using the shutdown button on a single QC. But if you have a rack with a couple QCs and their spares, teardown just got a minute longer if you have to manually shut them down. And that’s a long time at say, a festival.
You still have to do this with Kempner, helix, axe fx, tube amps, etc. So, always best to just take the extra step
The hx stomp was fine with just cutting the power (Line6 confirmed this), are you sure about the bigger units?
I think it’s because so many of us put them on our pedalboards, and I always just pulled the power plug or switch off the centralized power conditioner located in our rack that provides power for my board.
I have one on my pedalboard and have always used the power switch. Just seems lazy for people to pull the power on the QC when it specifically has a shut down option with the power button. It’s basically a small computer and I don’t feel like risking it esp with using it for tours.
Just seems lazy to pull the power on it and not use the actual on/off switch if you have the option. I’ve always felt the helix units started up slower or would have some weird thing happen next time I used it if I pulled the power plug instead of using the switch. I’ve used the HX Stomp and Helix Floor unit a ton.
The QC is already kinda prone to being glitchy, so no part of me wants to risk problems with it by just pulling the power multiple times a day on a tour.
Fun fact: Line6 confirmed that using the hardware on/off switch on the back of the HX stomp doesn’t do anything extra besides cutting the power right after the power socket.
Who knew that you’re supposed to use a power switch to power down? I pop the hood of my car and yank the got-dam battery terminal! 8*)
I’ve always opted for convenience and turned off my pedal board power. That being said, power down from this point on unless the gods concur otherwise.
I have all my devices behind one switch: OFF. No problems whatsoever. Stop worrying about this.
I’m also curious about the answer. Perhaps the question could also be answered philosophically?
Any news on this matter?
Unfortunately not. As soon as I get any confirmation either way, I will update this thread.
It seems ridiculous to not get an answer on something so simple. Its been ten days?!?!
