Hey everyone! I noticed there aren’t many people who have tried out the Worship Tutorials paid captures. I have picked up the Matchless DC30, Fender Pro Verb, Marshall Super 100 and Orange OR120 and they have taken the tone of my QC to the next level.
Not only do the captures sound amazing but they also put a ton of attention to detail with the effects/scenes for each preset, making them extremely versatile.
They only cost between $15-20 each for normal pricing and they often have sales. I am not affiliated with them but I truly feel that more QC users are missing out on the insane value they offer and wanted to show them some love for all the fantastic tones they provide.
Which WT presets have you bought and what are your thoughts? My next ones to pick up will be the Fender Deluxe that was just released! Have a wonderful day!
The models and effects in the QC are amazing on their own, and best of all, they come free with your QC. I’ve never felt the need to go beyond them, and certainly wouldn’t pay someone else to build presets or captures.
Imagine if people charged money for real guitar amp or pedal settings: “The best Boss DS1 settings ever, only $9.99”.
They aren’t charging for a setting. These are actual captures of real amps and they even add effects pedals captures that are not included in the QC, so you truly get a lot for your money. These are just special and the minimal cost goes to show that they are not trying to price gouge like many other preset farmers do. Your moves may vary but they add a lot of value to my setup.
Let’s not turn this into an ego trip to make you feel like you know how to use yours better than me. We are not your therapy session bro and we are not here to service your ego so look elsewhere.
I’ll say I agree with OP. I’m not going to act like there’s not a market for paid captures or IR’s, or even full presets for those of us who are more “plug and play” and want specific tones. It’s very useful if you want a tone but don’t physically have the amp nearby to capture it.
No need for name calling with the ego stuff, though.
That said, I have most all of their Quad Cortex presets and have demo’d them extensively. Before anyone freaks out, I won a code for lifetime free presets in their 500k subscriber giveaway.
I tried a lot before eventually settling on the Brian Wahl preset and using it almost every set. This one is the dual Matchless S/C-30 and Matchless Chieftan preset. I really like the clean and heavy sounds I’m able to get with my EJ strat through these amps.
I mostly think that the value lies in if you’re trying to get sounds specifically for P&W, as that’s what most presets are dialed in or set up for.
Hey Michael. That’s a pretty awesome win! To me their presets/captures seem to be for more than church settings. I am not a praise and worship player. I mostly do small gigs and use it for recording and I find that their presets are extremely versatile for all genres. I love the Matchless C30. The tone is insane. What kind of music do you normally play?
Nice! I admittedly do mostly play at my church, so my practice at home is mostly geared towards preparation for that. I’d agree they’re pretty versatile - I guess I go in with an expectation in terms of context so that’s what I see in it. When I’m not practicing for that I’ll typically use much more heavy presets geared towards metal, and for that I usually find one of the MANY found on the cloud.
I find that the WT presets are suuuuper good for clean ambient stuff, which I love noodling around in.
That’s great! I agree that the cleans are absolutely insane. I’ve had great luck using my J45 on the clean ambient scene for the Fender Pro Reverb and it sounds exceptional. I randomly tried it one day not expecting good acoustic results and was pleasantly surprised. Have you tried an acoustic on their clean captures?
I pay for and download captures of amps. $15-30 or whatever for a $2k-4k amp seems pretty awesome (and was my initial reason for purchasing a QC).
I find that WT does their amp captures extremely well. And they have some pretty awesome amps in their collection. Great mics used and run through some Neve preamps. They know their stuff. So I build my “presets” around them and use a couple different onboard delays (tape, analog and a dual setup) and then external pedals for modulation and reverbs.
My drive pedals that I would stick in front of my own amps I’ve captured and cycle through those based on what I want.
When you try it you may have to dial back some of the ambience (the normal clean channel also works well for this scenario), although some of those delays and reverbs can give you a very full acoustic sound, particularly with palm muted playing. It’s a very unique tone and I have grown to appreciate it immensely.
Hey Andy! This thread is designed to highlight the idea that using a third party solution doesn’t mean someone doesn’t know what they are doing simply because they choose to purchase an additional attachment. It would be nearly as foolish to suggest that someone doesn’t know how to use a camera because they opted for a 75mm prime lens over a kit lens. This primitive, archaic mindset has a need to be challenged so that we as players can simply get back to creating our vision.
These are tools that we use to reach an elevated personalized experience. I find that the QC and WT are the perfect solution for my workflow and I’m interested in hearing others’ experiences as well.
Which is your favorite WT capture? For me it’s the Matchless DC30 and the Fender Pro Verb.
That’s the part of this thread that I don’t fully get though - people’s mindset towards paid resources really shouldn’t affect our enjoyment of our hardware at all. I think it’s stupid to come into a thread and feel like you should tell people to learn their product better and not need paid resources, but I also think that it’s sort of goofy to feel a chip on your shoulder and need to validate your own purchasing of premium resources. Just do you, man!
Exactly! We buy these units so we can get the best tones. It doesn’t really matter how that next level tone is achieved, whether through stock options or paid content. In the end all that matters is that we are enjoying it. I love my QC and have had many other modelers, which have all come up short for me.
It’s the same reason why people buy an effect pedal in the first place. Nobody is gonna shame/chastise someone because they can’t get a delay effect out of their 5E3 tweed amp. I’m also not going to buy a Stratocaster, get pretty good at it, then pretend like Jeff Beck doesn’t exist. So having said that, I’m open and appreciative of people who can produce things I like and I can learn from them.
For me, I think Chris Benson makes the best sounding guitar amplifiers in the world and if I was a touring pro musician I’d own a baker’s duzzy.
WT has captured a Benson monarch that I pretty much use exclusively these days. I run their capture of the UK flavor on the left side, and a capture of the US flavor on the right both right as they begin to break up. Probably labeled a 1 or 2 in the cloud. I can’t remember.
I also like their chieftain capture(s), vibrolux, Brian’s 64 AC30 is pretty awesome too. I’ll probably get that super100 too but not sure how often I’d use it. Starting to get into option paralysis territory already haha.
