What kind of pedalboard are you guys using?

I finally added my wireless solution to my minimalist pedal board…

It’s a Line 6 Relay G10 that I designed a smaller enclosure for and 3D printed. I added a step down converter so I could run the wireless using 9V instead of USB…

To clarify, I really wanted to use my Line 6 wireless system because it is a ‘plug-and-play’ solution.

The transmitter is a guitarbug, which I prefer for home use. I just dock it in the receiver and it charges automatically, so there’s no messing around with charging cables and turning it on/off. And I could adapt it to fit under a Pedaltrain Metro’.

Convenience…

Customer made, I will still make some further mods in the power and midi areas though.

This is my new pedalboard for my brand new Quad Cortex :

  • pedaltrain novo 24
  • cioks dc7 and crux
  • strymon conduit for the meris ottobit Jr in front of the QC
  • the strymons are in the loop and midi controlled by the QC
  • a roland ev5 for expression
  • and a boss WL60 for wireless

This board is a beast for rock (between Radiohead and QOTSA), love it.

QC mini together with some special fx (placed inside QC send / return loop).
Board host is a Temple Audio Duo 17 with two 4XMODs.

Mainly used EBS DLX flat patch cables except for XLR balanced outs, USB C and phones.
Normal non locking 2,1mm barrel connector on QC minis power input (which is kinda locked by the right angle headphone connector).

Inputs 1 / 2 together with combined outs 3+4 (TRS) and phones patched to the right module; outs 1 / 2 (TRS as i don’t depend on XLR for balanced outs) together with expression outs for ottobit and QC mini patched to left module.

Powered by cioks DC7 (without Crux; QC mini runs fine on two combined 12V DC outs).
Installed a cheap RGB-LED strip from amazon which runs on the 5V USB out.

Using it mainly placed on a laptop stand at home for recording.

Size wise the particular stand (K&M 12185) is a real nice fit for the Duo 17.
There is some very slight wiggle when pressing buttons but overall it’s quite sturdy given the boards weight.

Beautiful. Super clean. 3rd pic, what xlr’s are those? They look adjustable in orientation (l/r)?

These are Low-Profile Right Angle XLR 3-pin Female A-Shell connectors from Cable Techniques:

OMG! How have I never thought to use caps on the unsued jacks!??? That’s protection and less frustration with setting up in a hurry!

EDIT:
I’m assuming those are these?

The caps look interesting. I have colored electrical and painters tape that I use to match cables to inputs as I cant read the little print very well anymore.

Updated the power supply to a Walrus and modded the board to add my Idoru P-1 backing track player.

I will add deported output ports for 1 to 4 (1-2 to PA and 3-4 to Headrush monitors).

wow. A lot to take in here! What’s the 3-p’up single-cut? You need to post in the Guitar thread if you haven’t yet.

@mfettara

  1. How do you like that Black Mountain roller volume pedal?
  2. Digging the dual Headrush set up. I run a pair myself.
  3. What’s the last expression / volume pedal on the left for?

Black Mountain : great piece of kit very well built. Takes a bit of getting used to but way more sensitive than a regular volume pedal. Great for rain modulation (as here in front of QC)

Headrush : yes and it allows for cool feedback (I have them on out 3/4 and I control that volume with the big knob )

Boss Midi expression pedal : for any midi controllable parameter but I am really waiting for CC#7 to be implemented (Global Midi volume) with a menu to set range max/min per output and/or set of outputs.

An updated board/setup from my last iteration back in something like 2022/23?

Using one of those Gokko pedalboards from Amazon and it worked a treat! I can get my entire rig loaded up on top of my Laney LFR212 and at the back of the stage where it can’t get the usual drunkard slopping their beer all over it :joy:

Signal path as follows:-

Shure GLXD wireless > EHX Black Finger Compressor > Quad Cortex (Korg Pitch black XS in Send 1) > LFR212

Out 1 and 2 are for FoH

Out 3 for the Laney cab

Headphones out direct to my Shure PSM channel 1 for bass only IEM, channel 2 for my IEM mix from FoH

Powered by a Cioks Hi5 mod (QC) and Cioks AC10 (Black Finger and Pitch Black). Small power strip mounted underneath so a single power cable goes to the mains on stage.

Oh, and the Behringer DI box on the occasions I’m running click and tracks for the band’s I’m playing with.

How are you liking the Laney?

It’s on my list for “what’s next”.

Honestly it’s fab, I’ve been using it live since 2021 and it’s just great. I’ve even had guitarists running through it when their amps have died (quick set up of a guitar amp and cab block on a different row and send it to the cab etc)

For me, it’s the most aesthetically “amp like” cab on the market, and while the 1x12 and 4x12 stock impulses are cool, I’ve always got it switched to the FRFR setting.

Also it lights up, who doesn’t like lights :joy:
