What kind of pedalboard are you guys using?

It doesn’t, obviously… look at my wiring, it was a joke.

I assumed it might be, but was really curious if you actually thought it did lol

Hehe, who knows if that ball of wires actually does change the sound…

I felt I wasn’t using my QC as much as I’d like so I put it on a board to make it easier to whip out and put away. It was previously living in the Neural case so I had to dig out the expression pedal, leads, etc. when I wanted to use it.

The Hotone ampero 2 pedal takes both expression pedal slots. 1 for the switch and another for the pedal’s movement.

The polytune is there because I don’t like the QC’s tuner. I might replace it with a wireless system in the future (very open to recommendations). I opted for the standard polytune instead of the mini as that means I only have to power the QC. I went through this thread in circles looking at different power supply options. I quite like the idea of a battery power bank but I didn’t want to commit to one yet.

Stuck on some removable rubber feet to give the metro board more clearance.

Rockboard Tres 3.1 with Mod 3 module.

To do: Fit my wireless receiver below. (Shure GLXD4R)

Some parts showed up today. Minimalist setup on a Metro 16. Cioks Sol mounted underneath, three Flex 8800 adapters should show up tomorrow so I can power the QC from the Sol, then have one outlet left for the MC03 and a free run if I need to run anything else (like a wah). The small Fractal pedal is great, the larger Moog won’t go out on gigs. Once Fedex shows up in the AM, it’ll be finish off the power leads, test, then off to do 3 sets. Today was tweaking the EV PXM-12MP to get it to sound close to the RedSound (which sounded great in rehearsal). The RedSound will get used at the gig for guitar monitor, send a feed to FOH, and the EV is pressed into duty as a FOH monitor. I like multitaskers…

If digital fails me, I plug into this. Next still will be to capture this at a few different preamp settings, crazy good amp.

I will start classic with a Temple Audio Solo 18 with an customized Case from Flyght.

Power supply I orderd the My Volts with some adapters from Amazon (total value 50 euro for the power solution) instead of using expensive power bricks.

More to come… waiting that my cortex with new codec arrive within the next three weeks

I recently switched back to my old Palmer MI Pedalbay 40, as this allows me to mount my Boss GM-800 as well. I also have a Palmer WT PB 40 Multi Power Supply, which is perfect for powering all of them. Underneath, there is also the BOSS GKC-DA, as my guitar still has a GK3 built in, and a DI box for the GM-800. The QC and GM-800 are connected via USB to a Windows handheld (Lenovo Legion go). I use this to control both devices via GigPerformer. The Chocolate then controls the songs/song parts via GigPerformer.

How are you using that battery, just off the top right of the board?

It’s a Shargeek Storm 2. The power bank is a little special because it has a barrel plug that can be configured in terms of voltage. I used it to power my board for a long time. Now, however, I only use it to charge my Lenovo Legion Go if I forget to charge it before rehearsal. Theoretically, I should also be able to connect it to the Palmer WT PB 40 Multi Power Supply as a power source, but I haven’t tried that yet. Since I now have to connect quite a few cables to the board, I’ve moved away from battery operation. The one power cable doesn’t make any difference and you don’t have to worry about the charge level.

Just finished mine. Searched for a solution without buying a Ciox or other expensive powerbrick… ended up with my volts power supply and some splitter cable…

Upgrade from the previous one. Changed the big Moog pedals for 2 smaller ones. Some cutting so the wireless receiver and antennas would fit. Also a new powersupply for the QC.

Me happy.

Ok. Built a new board. I think I’ll like this. Slightly different than previous iterations. Had to try a temple board and the modules to see what that’s about. Does seem nice not to worry about someone breaking off a jack on the back of the QC.

wireless in front. Mood in the stereo effects loop.

fits under my desk which is key!

That’s very nice. What are you using the Morningstar for?

It’s really useful. I use it to switch to different songs in a setlist and different parts of a song.

I also use it to access the tuner, gig view, looper easily and switch to scene/stomp and preset modes with a single button press.

really just helps navigate the QC easily. Highly recommend!

Thanks! I got a little dedicated one-switch MIDI pedal to toggle between some of the views, but that all makes sense.

there was no need to modify the pedalboard

Well, there where 3 reasons for modifying:

  • 1 I had terrible ground loop problems with a RockBoard MOD. No solution. Had to send back. In my modification there’s 0 connection between any 2 plugs. No shared ground anywhere.
  • 2 I color coded the connections. It’s easy to find them and plug the correct cables to it, including L/R
  • 3 The MODs take a lot of space under the board. If you check the photo under the board, I have a wireless there. It would never fit if I had a MOD there.

Having said that, YMMV depending on what you want to do with your board. But those things take serious real estate under the board (assuming the ground loop issues I experienced were a defective unit).

Oh, and no power button on the MODs. Mind boggles.
