I use a wah in several presets but I can’t store the on/off state. I set it to turn on when I press the toe button on my Mission Engineering Neural pedal expression pedal, which works fine, but if I switch to a different preset and accidentally push the expression pedal too hard, the wah will be active the next time I switch to a preset where I have a wah assigned. I’ve spent several hours online and experimenting with every setting I can imagine but it just flat doesn’t work. It really sucks during a live performance when I don’t want the wah on at the beginning of a song, it’s embarrassing. It seems that this issue has been present from the start, is anyone at Neural DSP coming up with a solution? It shouldn’t be too hard given everything else the Quad Cortex can do.
have you checked the scene bypass behavior setting (under device)?
Yes, it doesn’t make any difference.
is the wah assigned per scene within each preset?
fwiw I have my wah on an EP and it is set to off in heel down. That way I never worry about switches, just need to make sure it is heel down.
I only have wah assigned in 4 presets, if I don’t need a wah it’s not in the preset. I tried assigning it to a scene but that doesn’t work either. I might have to assign it to bypass on heel down, but I’d really like it to function like a traditional wah pedal. Maybe the issue isn’t enough of a hot topic for Neural to make an update?
If I’m reading your first post right, it sounds like this is your issue:
- in a preset with wah, step on the MEP switch to use wah (full toe I assume), then step on the MEP switch to turn wah off.
- Continue to use the MEP in a preset without a wah block, accidentally hit the toe switch turning the wah function on (but you don’t hear it because there is no block).
- Switch to a preset with wah, and you have wah because it was accidentally turned on previously.
Not sure there is a fix for that as I assume the switch on the MEP is latching - so it has an absolute on/off position. But maybe that can be switched to momentary, in which case the software would be tracking if wah is on or off, and presumably could be cleared when switching preset.
Or I’m misunderestimating the issue.
