Has anyone had luck doing this, and mind sharing a photo or description? I’ve tested the signal out on to Mac and it appears correct. Any tips?
I use my QC to control my Source Audio C4 that I have in my 1st effects loop. You’ll need a Source audio Neural Hub, SA168 MIDI adapter, a disaster area micro.ghost adapter/DMC.Micro Pro to connect it to the QC and then you can send CC commands to control the source audio pedals and recall presets, control expression, etc.
The way I have it set up on my board is:
QC MIDI Out >> 5-Pin MIDI Cable >> Disaster Area DMC.Micro Pro >> DMC.Micro PRO 1/4” TRS OUT >> 1/4” TRS to 3.5mm TRS cable >> SA168 MIDI Adapter >> SA168 TRRS Out >> Source Audio C4 TRRS Input.
This setup lets me recall presets in the C4 from the QC using scenes, and the DMC.Micro Pro lets me scroll through C4 patches manually if desired without using footswitches on the QC that I have assigned to scenes.
Hope that helps!
I have a C4 connected directly from the midi out of my Quad Cortex.
I’m not using any controller in between like 1ManRockBand, so I can only have one dedicated C4 patch per scene on the Quad Cortex. Which works fine enough. But does mean your C4 patch follows along with the Quad patch and you can’t change one without changing the other.
You mean you have different sounds from the c4 assigned to every scene of the qc? if it’s like this sounds pretty cool and perfect for my purposes
Yes, exactly. Each scene of the Synth Preset has a different C4 sound on it.
The only catch (and I haven’t checked this with the latest firmware) is that if you want to re-arrange the scenes, when you copy a scene to another footswitch it does NOT move the midi info over. So you have to hand program the C4 sound to move to the new preset.
Ok thank you. How do i have to do that? Do i have to write an another midi message, even the same message, in every footswitch with the synth? If it’s like this is not a big drama as long as the qc keeps the message saved
please…can you specify the cable you’re using?..I don’t understant the differences using the midi controler or not…
The C4 doesn’t have the ability to be MIDI controlled directly, so you have to use some sort of in-between device to control it via one of its two control ports (TRRS - also used for expression, or USB - used to connect to the computer to use the Neuro Hub editor)
You can use the Source Audio SA168 MIDI adapter (which is essentially a 5-pin MIDI to TRRS adapter that allows you to use the 5-pin MIDI output on the QC to control the C4) or some sort of midi controller that supports USB host mode (like the Disaster Area DMC.Micro Pro, which uses a USB-A to USB-Mini cable and plugs into the USB port on the C4 instead of the TRRS port).
The benefit of using a midi controller like the DMC.Micro Pro is it allows you to manually scroll through your presets (and see preset names) instead of just recalling one specific preset via a scene, which is how most people use it when it’s connected to the Quad Cortex.
The Quad Cortex can also be configured to scroll through presets on the C4, but you have to use two of your available footswitches on the QC and you won’t be able to read the names of the presets as you scroll through them.
Hope that helps clarify a bit.
Thanks for yoor response…but Without the midi controller…It’ seems Treygunn can assign diferents source presets to diferents scenes. This could be enough for me. I 'll try withe a simple cable midi 5 mopin to MIni TRS , if I see is not practical enough maybe I buy the midi controller.
