Hello,
I’d like to check how I can get rid of an external midi controller to control my iPad (with Loopypro and Aum).
I see you can set a “preset midi out” with quite many possible commands, but I can’t find how I can manage these switches so they don’t change QC audio blocks.
Basically I want to check if there’s the possibility to use QC switches for sending midi orders to external gear, while leaving QC on the same preset.
You can assign midi commands to the switches on the QC. But if you have blocks, scenes, or presets assigned to those switches they’ll turn on/off as well.
as long as you don’t assign any parameter changes to scenes or stomps, you should be able to send up to 12 midi commands per footswitch. If you want to do that with a pre-existing preset, you would have to un-assign all Scene or Stomp-related settings.
When performing, you would have to leave your preset as is and not change/assign any stomp or scene within it, thus leaving the 8 footswitches (feetswitch?) free for the midi commands only.
well, this is putting quite a big limit on using QC possibilities and real estate on the floor.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a fourth mode as midi controller?
Hi Unguitar, I apologise for the self promotion, but I often use the QC to do exactly that and I made a video about it. Hopefully it helps
hi Paolo,
thank you for linking to your video, which I saw when checking information on combining QC with LoopyPro.
Your videos on QC and also those on Loopy pro have been very useful for allowing me to get familiar with them without wasting too much time.
I think it would be amazing if the guys @ Neural would consider to add an additional mode to their next firmware: midi control. It shouldn’t be too difficult as everything is there already.
Being able to navigate from stomp/preset/scene to midi control would be amazing as you might have all the functionalities and options offered by QC all in the same preset, which sounds like the basic concept behind QC concept and architecture.
Oh! thanks for watching the videos.
I agree QC MIDI implementation seems a bit unfinished and unpolished atm, for example you cannot rename footswitches that are only assigned to MIDI functions that drives me crazy. But somewhere in this forum there was an article about them asking to RJM what should be implemented MIDI-wise so fingers crossed some more MIDI focused stuff is coming.
This was the response someone got two weeks ago as far as MIDI expansion
"We are aware of the feedback from the community in regards to these matters and a more wide array of possibilities in regards to MIDI control on Quad Cortex. This feedback has reached our development team, and we always forward these kind of suggestions to them in order for it to be taken into consideration into future iterations of CorOS. Unfortunately we at Support have no further information in regards to upcoming updates, features being developed, or devices being added into our hardware units.
Apologies for the inconveniences and thank you for the feedback you have provided."
