Know any good videos for basic QC midi set up?

I bought a Hotone midi controller for my QC. Does anyone know any good midi programming videos for the QC? There is nothing specific for the Hotone/QC combination but any basic set up video for the QC and any controller would be helpful.
Thanks
rick

I’m not sure there are many vids about controlling the QC externally as it’s really NOT set up for it. Ultimately, you’re locked into just replicating what the QC does itself…i.e. 8 stomps & 8 scenes. You CAN setup an external midi controller for the looper and you can do things like turn the tuner on/off or switch between scene/stomp modes. You can even turn individual effects blocks on/off as long as they’re assigned to a switch .
I use my external controller to select basic scenes (i.e. clean, OD and lead) then switch back to stomp to select different effects I want. Sorry to say but unfortunately, it’s a pretty limited system.

Yeah, I know that it is limited for now. When they get it moving I plan on getting a much better controller than the Hotone Ampero COntrol. But for now, I would like to configure it just to do those basic scene switches and turn on the scenes. I only have four switches and it would be great if I could somehow switch presets and once in a preset, be able to switch between four scenes, Is it possible? Any ideas on how to begin with the QC?
And thanks of rthe reply!

I was using the Ampero for a while.
Take a look through the QC’s manual for the midi section. Set the QC to whichever midi channel you want to receive on and send the commands on that channel from the ampero.
In the Incoming Midi section of the QC’s manual you’ll see the CC#’s for the switches, program changes, tuner, tempo, views ect. You can send multiple commands with the Ampero so for each switch, put together a series of commands you want. It takes a little time to get the hang of it but once you understand it, it goes quickly.
Here’s an example:

Thanks a lot! I kind of get the idea but one thing is still confusing. Given that the Ampero Hotone has 4 switches I am guessing that I could use the four to switch scenes no problem and I can figure that out. However I am thinking that if I want to use one switch to move up presets, then I would need another to move down which would then leave me only two for scene switching. Is that accurate? I can get by without stomp mode as I can incorporate what I need in scenes. But getting to presets is the issue as I plan on having the QC mounted on something so that I can tweak while gigging and not have to bend over.

I’m using a 10 button programmable MIDI footswitch.

8 scene selections with button release going back to stomp mode, one button for tuner and I forget what button 10 toggles. Each button can be programmed for multiple press actions and multiple release actions.

I don’t recall if the Ampero supports multiple function switches, i.e. tap+hold, double-tap…I believe it does. If so, you could program one of those to switch the programs up/down.

Thanks Bryce. I am just trying to get started on this and I am a little confused. If you could walk me through one quick thing, I think that I could extrapolate from there. So what would it look like if I wanted FS 1 on the Ampero to open Scene 1 on the QC? CC#43 is scene select and then I assume that I would put 1 in for Scene 1 and then FS 2I couldset up as CC#43 then FS 2 for scene 2.
I am just a little confused as to what that would look like on the grid you sent.
If I can start there I can then move on ahead and then once I buy the Mastermind GT 10 I can start doing more nuanced things like I can on my Helix Rack.
thanks

Hey rick, the cc# is 43 but for scene A the value is 0. Scene B value is 1 and so on…

I have an fcb1010 and am brand spanking new to midi. Ive downloaded a free program from mountain utilities that allows the controller to be programmed via computer, however I just cant seem to get my expression pedals to work within my presets. If anyone has any advice or screenshots of their numerical values it would be great.

Bryce, I think I got it and you were a lot of help. I had the QC on hybrid and was thinking that the bottom row of scenes started on Scene A. Since the top row was assigned to stomp mode, the bottom row started on Scene D which would be #4 on the Hotone. It is working now. I am going to use it to change scenes and then after I am comfrotable with that I will go on to something else. Once I get this Hotone down. I will move on to a really serious MIDI controller and hopefully that will be about the same time that Neural DSP moves the MIDI game up a notch.
Again, thanks for your help! An old MIDIOT will sleep tonight…

So another question regarding the Hotone or any other controller…am I right in thinking that I can go to Scene mode and have FS One toggle between Scene A/B, FS Two Scene C/D, etc? So my four switches can now switch eight scenes?

IF the Ampero switches are dual-function, yes. Use a “tap” to select scene A and a tap/hold or double-tap to select scene B.
