Using my Marshall as a Power Amp

I’m running my QC through the FX loop return of my JCM 900 to use it as a power amp for the models on the QC. I tested it side by side with the Fryette PS-100, and both options sound fantastic! They really deliver the authentic feel of a tube amp on stage. I think this is the way to go if you’re trying to achieve the ‘real tube amp’ feel onstage. Any of your tube amps with an FX loop will do—this is the one I have, so it’s the one I use. Of course, if you’re just using in-ears, this is irrelevant.

Y por qué, ya que lo usas como power amp, no lo usas también como previo (usando el método de los 4 cables) para los sonidos Marshall y los previos de la QC para los sonidos no Marshall. Así lo uso yo y estoy encantado

And why, since you use it as a power amp, don’t you also use it as a preamp (using the 4-wire method) for Marshall sounds and the QC preamps for non-Marshall sounds. This is how I use it and I am delighted

Sure! That works too.

I used to do everything 4-cable with whatever modeler I happened to be using at the time but I eventually wanted to stop lugging my 100 watt head around and got an SD Powerstage 200 which has done well and is small and light.

These days I’m using a KSR PA50 tube power amp which is awesome and still small enough to fit in my gig bag. You get 50 watts of 6L6 tube power on demand and it sounds and feels great. Highly recommend.
