Send/Return Issue

Hey there,

I have an Eventide H90 and trying to use it in the FX loop using the Send/Returns.

Currently i have a single lane, with an amp, cab and FX Loop 1/2. I have cables from Send 1 and 2 going to In 1/2 of the H90 and cables from the Out 1/2 of the H90 to the Return 1/2 of the QC. (I have also tried just using FX1 and using just Send/Return 1 and In/Out1 respectively)

I get no return signal. I am using TS patch cables, but the manual states the Send/Return I/O is TRS. Am I correct in assuming that I need TRS patch cables for this to work?

You do not need TRS patch cables for the FX Loop. They are mono. So you would need a normal mono TS patch cables.

The H90 might also be able to accept TRS cables for connecting with line level studio gear. But wouldn’t make sense if it only requires TRS cables.

Thank you for this. Will continue to trouble shoot to find out what the issue might be.

I believe there may be a setting in the H90 at issue here; I don’t have one but it seems like I’ve read about this kind of problem before. Wish I knew how to remedy it, but I’d probably dive into it from the H90 side- it’s probably not the QC giving you trouble here (only possibilities would be the cables being connected wrong, or perhaps the FX Loop block levels needing to be tweaked)

I think you are right. I remember something about checking the H90 that its configured for instrument level etc.

What mode is the H90 in? Dual or Insert mode?
Sounds like the QC is set up correctly, but with 2 pedals with many routing options it can get tricky.
Check out the routing options of the H90 here:

Hey all, thanks so much for the help. The issue turned out to be a defect in my H90. I got the unit replaced. The new unit worked seamlessly once It arrived. Putting it in the effects loop worked like a charm. Thanks all.
