Thinking about getting the QC, but wondering if I can have one stereo fx loop on the snd/rtn 1+2, and a “pseudo-loop” on output 3 and input 2 for a few mono pedals that I don’t want in series with my stereo ones?
You can do it but you would have to send the Output 3 signal at the end of a row on the grid, and Input 2 at the beginning of another row on the grid. QC won’t let you send/return from those in the middle of the grid like the FX loops.
Ok so it’s possible, thanks for the reply. Since I’m not a current user, would you mind explaining what that limitation means?
Input can be defined via a „Transparent Blend“ block with blend at 100%. Thus more flexibility is given.
pretty interesting way to use that one
An interesting option is also to combine a send jack from the FX loop with an input as return, while the input is combined with blend.
E.g. one FX loop is used and the return of the other loop is used as playback input to multiple outputs for sending the track also to out 1 & 2 (e.g. 4CM). The track is played in stereo and thus it’s fully usable as desired.
You can do this, although i found for my use case (wanting to run drive pedals into input 2), it didn’t sound great.
Originally, I wanted to incorporate an Eventide H90 and some drive pedals into the QC but i wanted to still be able to use a stereo loop for the H90. In other words, i wanted 3 fx loops
Try this out and see if it is what you’re after:
Mono loop:
QC Send 1 > pedal Input > pedal Out > QC Input 2 (instead of Return 1)
Stereo loop:
QC Send 2 > Pedal input> pedal stereo Out >
QC Return 1/2
On row 1, first in the grid is a send block that goes to send 1, you would have Row 2’s input set to hardware Input 2 and use a gain or other transparent block to be able to create a split and mix it back into row 1. In my case, i had it mix before the amp block, and the stereo loop(Return 1/2) after the amp block.
You can put send 2 anywhere in the chain, i typically had it after the amp/cab and then right after the send block, i put return 1/2
