Today there will be a lot of ideas =)
Global Effects Section
Please do a global reverb module like a global equalizer. It is convenient to have a reverb that adjusts to the room for all presets at once. Also, given the ability of QK to replace the mixer for a small group, it is logical that it will have common reverb for all. It should look something like this:
The column on the left allows you to determine the send level for each stereo path. On the right we see the parameters of the reverb itself and a set of presets for it, it is quite ergonomic, without any extra drop-down lists.
In addition to the reverb and equalizer, a limiter and maximizer (although this effect is in doubt, it introduces a latency, but if use it only for sound from a computer, then it will come in handy) would be extremely useful. It is important that using these effects it is possible to process not only sounds from stereo paths, but also from a computer. Usually, this whole set is used on the master bus of DAW and their transfer to the hardware processor will allow for performance to give up a productive bulky PC and use even a rather weak tablet. Since global effects are intuitively felt to the right of the tool chains (and on mixers they are usually located to the right), it will be convenient to show this panel with a swipe from the right edge of the screen
Matrix of presets
You must have come up with something similar, but if not, then implement a matrix of presets for easy navigation:
There is no need to explain anything except say about the settings button at the top. In the settings dialog, you can specify:
- how many banks it costs to fit on the screen (in this example there are 5, but you can fit more)
- font size
- hide preset names
By the way, the tag system should be supplemented with the ability to assign a color to each tag, then this matrix can be made more informative, like this:
Quick action
In the global menu, it’s worth creating a section in which users can assign specific actions for certain gestures available on the touchscreen. I don’t know what gestures are not used, but we are talking about such
- Swipe from the left edge of the screen
- Swipe from the right edge of the screen
- Swipe from the bottom of the screen
- Two-finger touch
- Three-finger touch
- Four-finger touch
- Five-finger touch
These actions should be available for appointment:
- Show Global FX Panel (Reverb, EQ, Limiter, Maximizer)
- Show Preset Matrix
- Show DrumMachine
- Turn off the screen backlight and foot switch lights
- Turning off the device (a five-finger gesture is not very convenient, I would assign to this action)
- Select one of the preset / stomp / scene modes
- Display Level Monitoring Mode in each block
It's about this
- Mute all sound
- Mute all stereopath (Leave sound from PC)
- Other useful processor features that I have no idea
Quick bypass block
One of the most successful functions of some processors is dedicated buttons for effect blocks. Unfortunately, not all developers think so, someone doesn’t do them at all, the BOSS company cannot decide in any way - they will add it in one model, remove it in the next one, and so on and on. Here is the MOOER well done, GE200, 250, 300, all have these wonderful buttons.
KK, of course, has no buttons for this task, а 4x8 matrix of buttons is not the best solution =)
But it would be great in the global settings to be able to override the behavior for a tap on the block: let it turn on bypass mode, and edit mode was called, for example, by swiping up or down from the block.
Smart energy saving
In the case when the device is used as the main sound card, several triggers will be useful to make the device more intelligent and economical. These features should be available as options in global settings.
- A trigger that will turn off the device when the connection to the computer via USB is lost (this trigger should be set a short delay, 1-2 minutes, in case the user wants to connect the device to another computer).
- It will be very cool if the device can turn on when the computer turns on and the USB connection appears again.
- When establishing a connection with a computer, the device should turn off the backlight of the screen and footswitches after n minutes (“n” is set by the user). You can return the backlight by touching the screen or footswitch of the tuner.
Global encoders
The ability to assign global actions to rotary encoders, for example, the headphone volume would be very convenient to assign to the upper encoder responsible for switching preset banks (It seems to me that things like various volume controllers should always have physical manifestations available instantly, this is very important when working with sound).
Given that any effect parameters can be adjusted using the touch screen, you can freely use encoders for other tasks globally, for example, for MIDI commands, or the most popular parameters of amplifiers and effects that you always want to have at hand.
