Quad Cortex questions

It cannot be argued that this is not possible in principle, the BOSS firm has successfully dealt with this problem in its flagship. Also, their previous processors switched presets much faster than Axes and Helixes.

Another question is how did they achieve this  Maybe they have one single amplifier model there and their “different amplifiers and effects” are just different configurations, and so the presets there are equivalent to snapshots and scenes :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
But the main thing is that it works as you expect, and allows you to switch between a wide range of different sounds in a way that snapshots will never allow.

On my AX8 I used to have a clean amp on the X of the amp block and a high gain on the Y.
Then call X or Y by switching scenes.
This way, you can have one preset for a full song and go seamlessly between both amps.

Hmm as far as I remember, presets only allowed one amp block in total, but if you say that was possible, I will definitely check that out again, thanks

Yes, you can only have one instance of an Amp Block, but this block can have two states X and Y. That’s how you use two different amps.

I will make sure to check that out again, thanks a lot!

Can you go ahead and put a 100w amplifier in the pedal to power my cabs?

Can you disable power amp modeling? I want to run through my real amps’ FX loops and real cabs.

Will it possible to use the expression inputs for external switches?
Case in point: I have a Mission Engineering expression pedal with switch, which I would like to use as volume pedal by default, but activate (and control) the wah when the switch is pressed. Can this be done?

This would be super usefull, every gig location has some Amp on hand, so being able to even leave my Amp at home and just use whatever Amps FX Loop return would be so nice.

Should be a global option, if have have the QC hooked up like that I dont need Power amp modeling on any Patch.

Have the specs for the expression pedal inputs been finalised or released?

I’d much prefer auto-engage to a footswitch: way more convenient and you’re not using the second expression input. Once you experience auto-engage, you’ll probably wonder why you asked.

By “specs for the expression pedal” I mean something like is it going to be 10k, 25k? Linear? Will my EP1 be a good match?

While we’re asking expression pedal questions, will the curve be adjustable?

The most recent blog update mentioned that several different expression pedals had been tested, and functioned perfectly. I’d still like to know what the specification is. What pedals will be a good match to the input characteristics of the QC?

Why did you make the screen recessed into the case? Even modern phones have left this practice. This makes it difficult to gestures from the edge of the screen, but the worst part is that there will accumulate dirt that cannot be cleaned and this spoils the appearance.

One question I did not see: why are there two mono/L outputs. Can I use them as stereo output, e.g. have a stereo pedal in fx loop and have the output go into an h9 or so? Reason for asking is I have two H9 and since there is only one stereo fx loop i want to know how i can hook it up.

Once plug-ins are transported to the QC, do we also have the option of mixing and matching their effects and cabs? Like taking the Fortin Hexdrive and using it with the Plini head and the Omega cab for example.

Thread seems to have been forgotten. I need to ask again: can you disable power amp sims either globally (good), on individual amps (better), or both (best)?

2nd question: can you run more than one amp block per signal chain? (My guess is yes, since you can run four separate instruments through it.)

In order for it to be seamless, you’d need a fully redundant DSP chain which is only used for spillover when switching presets, and cannot be used for anything else, which I don’t think a lot of people would want to pay for, even if you could conceivably do it.

Just because this myth keeps surviving: yes you can conceivably do it and yes people did pay for the Digitech GSP1101. It was an amazing unit for its time and switched faster than some of my analog preamps.

That’s one way of doing it but not the only way to achieve spillover. Rumor has it that a current digital guitar processor is gonna be getting spillover in an upcoming firmware release.
