I am so foreign to MIDI that in for short acclimation, I’ve grown so confused, about the commands. Can somebody just screen shot their editor screen so I can see what the natural progression of the commands. I am completely stumped.
I’m away from mine at the moment but what we’re hoping to do with the MC6 pro? I can share a template for some of the things I use it for (recalling gig view and looper view, changing scene mode stomp mode, quick tuner recall)
But I would start with the video above that Morningstar put out and you can start to build whatever you want with it!
I’ve watched this video over and over again. I can get something’s to work on button a ans most of the time b but after that everything just quits working.
I probably only want the most basic commands. Preset changes, scenes, looper etc. can you help me with that.
It’s going to be really tough to troublshoot without knowing what you’re trying to do and what you have entered. If you’re just trying to control basic features on the QC, you just need to make sure in the morningstar editor you’re sending the right messages with the right CC\PC values on the correct channel.
Remember to assign action types properly. If you’re not getting the unit to respond after you program a couple things, double check that you are saving your changes in the morningstar editor (it can lose the commands you’ve entered if you don’t save and move to a different section of the editor.) Also be sure that you’re programming an action on the editor so that the unit knows what to do when you release a button. You have a lot of choices for action types and what message to send with that action-- press, release, long press, hold, double tap, etc. You can get stuck if you assign multiple things to the same button with a press action, but they do contrary things. Just go slow, save your presets as you build them, and double check that you are assigning your desired action and switch\effect state-- e. g. another thing to watch is that you’re assigning the right toggle state to your action. If you want to turn something on or off, but you don’t tell the unit to move from toggle state 1 to toggle 2, you can basically be sending the same message with both a press and a release action…
Once you get the hang of those fundamentals it should get a lot easier. The QC still unfortunately has some limitations to its MIDI but you should be able to get a lot more out of it with the Morningstar.
I have done everything you suggested. Everything is programed to run on MIDI channel 1 but, it doesnt matter, the behaviour stays the same. I go to the Morningstar Web-Editor and select the first preset im trying to program. Unfortunately, it rarely advances past the second. An example would be preset “A.” I go to the editor and select tuner (as an example) copy it and then paste it to position one. It works to the extent that I just want to turn it one. It won’t allow me to toggle between on and off even if I select toggle and engage it.
Then I go to preset 2, I leave the bank on channel one. Here i will do something like “gig” view. Sometimes it will change but that is only some of the times. Thinking exactly what you are thinking now, I changed every cable out. Still the same result.
This has to be a “me” thing. I figured out how to reset the MC6 but havent found a way to factory reset my brain. Thgis is why I was hoping to find a screen shot, that would give me an example of something known to work.
Thank you for responding to me.
When I get home I will see if I can record a little video and send you a bank file to upload. Then you can compare how you’ve been programming.
I think part of what you’re getting hung up on is the toggle system. I think you’ve got to put different position states (1 vs. 2) to get it to toggle and send a different midi message for on and off.
Please do send it to me. I would really appreciate it.
