Set up Morningstar MC8 with QC

Hello

I am very new to MIDI. The MC8 is my first device. I am trying to use it to control simple items on my Quad Cortex and am having no success. I believe I am following instructions correctly, using the MIDI dictionary etc, but it does not work at all. Here are my settings

5 Pin MIDI goes from MIDI out of MC8 to the MIDI in of QC (QC shows MIDI In is plugged in)

QC Settings:

  • Channel 1

  • Midi thru off

  • Midi over USB off

  • Ignore Duplicate PC on

  • MIDI Clock out OFF

On Morningstar Editor, I have the commands going to Channel 1.

I have tried copying the Gig View setting from Midi dictionary, pasting it into an action and renaming the Action Gig View. It does not work.

Can someone please assist? I’m at a loss at this point and curios if there is an issue with the MIDI out from the MC8.

Thank you

@RexRemus Is the Morningstar Guru hereabouts, perhaps he can offer a quick solution.

While we’re waiting, what exact command are you sending from the midi controller? I’ve done this with the midi-jumper hack (from the QC midi to itself) but not had to configure it from an external controller (I use a VOes pedal but it’s preconfigured with templates)

Thanks for your reply. Ive tried two directly from the MIDI Dictionary

  • Show/hide gig view
  • open Looper U/I

Nothing has worked unfortunately. Makes me think I’m messing up one of the “basics” of set up.

I’ve also tried command directly from Chuck’s videos that havent worked.

Thanks!

what specific CC #s are you assigning?

You might want to unplug the MC8 and connect the QC midi to itself to try the jumper hack- maybe if you could get it working that way it might suggest what needs to change in the MC8

If helpful. Here are 2 pics: one of my MIDI Settigns in the QC, and another of a script that is not working…

Were you ever able to get this working?

Yes! after all that, it was the Midi cable haha
