QC USB Driver disconnects randomly (Ableton Live 11 Windows 10)

I have installed the USB driver on my Windows 10 Pro laptop (MSI GS60-6qe) and open Ableton Live 11 Suite, assign the ASIO device as Neural DSP Quad Cortex, configure the inputs and outputs and device settings (buffer size). This generally works but intermittently, randomly, and repeatedly, Ableton will stop playback/recording, an error message is displayed in the orange box “The audio engine is off. Pease click here to choose an audio device …” and a popup window displays “Failed to open the audio device Neural DSP USB Audio Device”. If I re-select it in settings, it begins functioning properly again. This disconnection happens during playback or recording (obviously, this is an unacceptable situation!) If I cannot rely on the device to work without interruptions, it is basically useless as an audio interface.

As a troubleshooting step, I went in Device Manager > USB Controllers and I unchecked “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” under Properties > Power Management wherever applicable. Will update if this solves the issue. [Additional note: I am using an Ultimate Power Plan from System Mechanic.]

UPDATE: Since modifying the power management of the USB controller devices, the issue has not appeared again. I’ll post back here if that changes, but hopefully this means everything is working correctly and it’s not a driver issue.

UPDATE: Unfortunately it’s done it again.

get rid of system mechanic and all the other stuff you don’t need, Windows has native system tools, use them manage your system. I would recommend a fresh install of your OS and leave off all that 3rd party junk this time, I’ll bet you get better results.
In my experience (for what it’s worth) backing up your personal files to an external HD and re-installing windows, followed by only installing the programs that you really need and use does the trick and is far, far quicker than troubleshooting a borked installation.

I’ve spent months working on DPC latency on a number of debloated builds (using unattend files) and the takeaway from that so far is basically Windows driver management sucks all by itself, even without any help from 3rd party software. That was on a different machine with a different USB audio interface, though, so I don’t want the conversation to go too far astray. If anyone else on this forum has experienced the QC disconnecting in Ableton, I’d like to hear about it. It could also be related to an Ableton update, a loose port on my laptop, the new cable supplied with the QC being defective, etc. There are a lot of possibilities but my reference point is that I didn’t ever see this issue with my other USB audio interface on this laptop in Ableton.

I have a very similar issue, but with Reaper. Sound just cuts off, and I have to unplug/plug the USB cable for my PC to notice the QC again. Extremely annoying when tracking for a project…
I use Windows native tools only, battery saving disabled everywhere. I figured the driver needed an update, but maybe there’s something else here.
