[QC Mini] LooperX is unusable : detects only on footswitch release

Hi everyone,

I spent a moment trying to figure out why all my loops were not properly looping, until I read a comment on reddit which gave me the reason: the looperX stops the loop recording when you RELEASE the footswitch, not when you press it.

While this might come handy to START a loop, and while this is acceptable for all the other effects, this is totally counterintuitive to trigger the end of the loop, as we need to anticipate the end of it, but not too much as it will open the tap tempo window otherwise.

I tried to switch the C1 and D1 functions, but it doesn’t really work, because while it doesn’t open the tap tempo window anymore, once the long-press timer has been reached (800ms by default or something - iirc), the footswitch doesn’t do anything on release. So it is still very challenging to anticipate a bit and release on the correct beat.

Honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t find other topics about this in these forums, as it makes the looperX unusable on the QC mini, in my honest opinion.

Here is a request for introducing a toggle on switch press vs. release. Not a lot of visibility on it, though I could have sworn I’ve seen more conversations about this topic:

Indeed, I didn’t find it when I wrote my post. This FR is 2 months old, and there is still no answer from the Neural team, it doesn’t sound good

I guess I will have to use a regular looper pedal in the mean time…
