LOOPER in QC mini

I want to use the Looper to record free-form loops at any time, the way I’m used to with other loopers from Line 6, TC Electronic, Ampero, etc.

However, I’ve just discovered that REC is triggered when I release the footswitch rather than when I press it. Unfortunately, that makes the Looper basically unusable for me.

What I need is very simple: recording should start exactly when I hit the switch, and playback should start exactly when I hit the other switch — bang on time. I don’t need quantization, a preset number of bars, or synchronization to Tap Tempo. I just want a straightforward looper that behaves like the loopers on many much cheaper devices.

I’ve only had the QC Mini for a few days and I’ve really liked it so far, but discovering that the Looper doesn’t seem to work this way is honestly making me consider returning it.

Am I missing a setting somewhere? Is there any way to make the Looper start recording on footswitch press rather than release?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Unfortunately that’s how the Mini is programmed. You may be able to use an external midi controller instead to engage record on footswitch press instead of release, but you are not able to change that functionality of the QC Mini footswitches themselves. Very strange choice for Neural, but it is what it is

Yea, you might want to return it and hope they change it. Dont be stuck with a expensive device you cant use.

Is the mini different than the full QC in this regard? I don’t have any issue with the looper and I have used many different loopers the QC is actually one of my favorite built in loopers of all the modelers. But if the mini is different disregard.

Yes, the footswitches for the normal QC respond when they’re pressed, not on the footswitch release. This has been a very debated subject with people who have gotten the mini. Very weird they programmed it like this

This seems like an oversight to me. There’s no reason the switches shouldn’t trigger on press while on the Looper X screen. At least for REC and PLAYBACK. The only trade-off would be that you lose the ability to long press the D switch to open the tempo screen, but playback timing is more important.
