I would like to know if anyone has already managed to resolve the issue of changing presets between one song and another because the quadcortex simply remains silent during the transition from one to another for a reasonable amount of time. The change is very sudden, is there any way to change the preset without having to spend that time empty before loading the other preset?
QC changes presets pretty fast, it’s not seamless, and reverb and delay tails are cut off. But preset switching is fast enough for most song changes, unless there’s no pause between them.
Scenes are an option for setting tones for songs that run together and need faster switching.
I typically use one preset for a whole gig. It’s a complex preset with a lot of effects and gain stages. I use an MC8 to control the scenes, and the 8 QC stomp switches to control effects within scenes. This is very flexible but does take some toe tapping to make significant tone changes. But I like the consistency of my sound, consistent location of scene and stomp switches, and the flexibility to use different sounds in songs if the situation calls for it.
No, there is not. The way the QC works (at least as of now), is that a preset always has to be loaded. So the sound gap you are experiencing is the loading time.
Unfortunately, for now, it’s just nature of the beast. My Fractal AX8 was initially very slow with preset changes but a couple of years after release, there was an OS update that addressed this and made preset changes much faster. Hopefully NDSP can improve this, as well. I’m sure thet’re busy frying bigger fish at the moment. That said, preset changes will never be as fast as scene changes.
