Popping noises PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone,

First post here and a new QC owner / user. Really need some help. I’m using scene mode and have set up presets for each song in my bands set eg preset 1 is song 1, preset 2 is song 2. Preset 1, scene A is intro, scene B verse etc… pretty standard.

I’m using the same clean amp head and cab across all presets with distortion pedals and pitch effects coming in and out on various scenes. When I change to the next preset ie the next song I get a loud audible pop through the PA and the cab I’m running.

Is this user error or is this an inherent limitation of QC loading and unloading different effects between presets? It’s making QC almost unusable live. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

Maybe worth noting that I’m running strymon bigsky and timeline in the FX loop stereo.

Signal chain is pretty straight forward. No splits Running pitch, some gain pedals and then the fx loop strymons in to the front of a clean amp head. Out 4 to my stage amp return. And then split to cab and out 1&2 to PA.

Please help. Why am I getting these popping noises when changing between presets / banks / songs?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and has advice.

Haven’t heard of this issue before. Best bet would be to upload a couple of the presets so we can see if we can find the problem.

Have you tried it without the FX LOOP to see if it’s the culprit?

Highly likely you have something set up incorrectly in the preset. That isn’t a normal thing with the QC, but could happen if you have wild settings for some blocks or something isn’t set up correctly

Thanks for the replies. Really grateful. I managed to isolate and resolve the issue. It turns out it was one block and one very specific pedal causing this popping issue. It was the Thunderpaw fuzz. If I switched to a new preset / bank where the preset had Thunderpaw engaged this caused the popping issue. I have since removed Thunderpaw from my signal chain and used a different fuzz and the issue is completely resolved. Shame that this occurs with the Thunderpaw. Possibly a bug there that needs investigating but at least I’ve managed to isolate the problem and find a fix. Thank you for all your help and suggestion
