pauses in sound when switching presets. Has anyone encountered this problem? There is a pause between switching for a second or more!!! How to solve the problem?
Switching presets in the Quad Cortex will always cause an audio gap.
If you can be happy sticking with one preset as much as possible, you can use Scene mode to change sounds without an audio gap*.
*Some amp parameter settings will still cause an audio gap when switched with Scenes. The clean/dirty gain switch in Soldano SLO-100 (plug-in version) and Cory Wong X “The Amp Snob” both have this behavior.
as DC says, that’s normal for QC audio to have a gap between presets as all new blocks are loaded to the grid.
However, if you’re referring to gaps in external audio being fed thru the QC via computer programs or DAWs, this glitch/bug was corrected with today’s bugfix update 3.2.1
I only use the quad cortex at home for now. So the gaps in sound when switching sets are not critical for me. But such breaks in sound for live performances on stage make the quad cortex absolutely unusable. I really hope that over time the developers will understand that this needs to be fixed somehow.
Work live with scenes…

Hate this is how you had to find out about this issue. I was in the same boat. Didnt know it did that until after i got it and I liked to use different presets for different songs (mainly tempo changes). I get by with making sure i find a way to fade out in time to change with no audio coming out of my board. I’ll wait til everything dies out, then switch. Scene/hybrid mode didnt work well for me for this because i like to use it in Stomp mode. Would be cool if they would allow you to use some sort of master preset and then set your bank change button to just change tempos without loading another preset which could be identical.
If you’re playing to a click with the different tempos, you should send midi to the QC so it can change the tempos of the effects instead of changing to a whole new preset. That sorta workflow of having a different preset for each tempo feels like the hardest one you could do for just tempo shifts.
Curious if anyone else has different methods for your specific use case, since it seems like there would be a better workaround than different presets
Yeah it wouldn’t be bad to do that, the main reason I don’t is because i dont have an external midi device for tempo. I could receive it from the computer that’s used for the click track but thats another thing to set up and I’m not in charge of that computer. On a week to week basis, it’s been simplest for me to do a preset with the tempos for that song.
But you’ve inspired me to look into other options for sure
Other option would be scenes. They’re perfect for this situation. I know you mentioned not liking them, but honestly that would solve this immediately
They would solve the tempo issue but they lock me out of being able to be flexible with what effects I want to use on the fly.
What about an external midi-controller? You could have an expanded hybrid mode this way, with 8 stomps on the QC and up to 8 Scenes or other functions on additional midi switches
Didn’t realize this. May have to investigate it
