Physical Jack on Combo Input 1 Becoming Significantly Looser Over Time

I’ve been using my QC heavily since I first got it midway through 2022 and it’s been my main rig for hundreds of gigs and rehearsals. I always plug into Input 1, the TS/TRS/XLR combo input. When I first got the QC, plugging a TS/TRS cable into input 1 felt super secure and you could feel a securing/locking mechanism grab the tip of the cable to stop it from accidentally coming out to the point where some actual effort was needed to unplug cables from the QC after gigs or rehearsals. After about 2 1/2 years of continuous use, that securing/locking mechanism in input 1 barely does anything and cables can practically pop right out. Input 2, the other combo input which I use far less often, still had a pretty strong locking/securing mechanism.

I know any physical device will wear over time in some ways, but I didn’t think that the securing mechanism would wear out this quickly. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to make that locking mechanism more secure in input 1? Is this a possible manufacturing defect with the combo inputs? Are there any things I haven’t considered that may be a factor here?

That is a first for me. I have done the same and that’s going on 3-years now without that issue. You might need to email support@neuraldsp.com as that jack might be faulty. Regardless, that should not occur and I wouldn’t recommend opening the unit and or risking warranty issues so support is your only viable channel. If you are in the US, NDSP has a service center in CA now and possibly other locations so turn-around time will be quick etc. Good luck!

I have had two unit, the first had problems with the volume knob and was replaced under warranty. I encountered the same problem as you on both.

My bandmate had to return his first unit, it had an extremely loose jack right out of the box. Not sure if they fixed it or just gave him a new one

I’ve since contacted NDSP support and they responded quickly! I was asked to send a video of the trouble with the input 1 jack and sent that over. Hopefully, there’s an easy fix for this.

I have this exact same issue. I only use mine on weekends for church, and I’ve been very gentle with my unit. What did they say after seeing your video?

Sorry for the delayed response. Because this was the second time I’ve had issues with my QC (the first time being a harsh distorted noise resulting from a fried control board), NDSP send me a replacement unit under warranty! All the jacks work as expected (thankfully).

They sent me a return label and asked me to send my QC back with as many of the original things as possible. I still use the original power supply and had the box it came in, so I packed everything up and shipped it off. Once my package was in transit, I contacted NDSP and they sent me a replacement directly from Finland. It got to me JUST as I was heading out the door to a gig with my backup rig, but I had enough time before the hit to download my presets and captures from the cloud and double check that everything was in working order.

Look for a guitar cable that has Neutrik NP2X or NP2X-B jack on it and it clips in super snug in the Neutrik input on the QC. I swapped to one of these and not had any problem since.

I had this problem. Returned the unit and was sent a replacement. Had the same issue. Turns out even though everyone thinks “that’s a 1/4 inch jack”, there’s actually no standard geometry for them and if you start comparing all your cables the tip shape is slightly difference, some are a bit longer, not quite the same width etc. And my favourite guitar cable I’d been using for decades that plugged in fine in Boss stomp pedals was slightly too long to be a good fit in QC. It then made sense why when I’d switched to Polytune from Boss TU3 that cable always seemed a bit loose too.
