Noise w/Lehle volume pedal?

First, Joki and I are in touch over email (and his support has been excellent), but I did want to check if anyone’s run into the same issue using ANY volume pedal + QC in case this is an issue on the QC side

this is the original big mono volume pedal

The problem: the volume pedal introduced noise into my quad cortex. I didn’t have a ton of time to diagnose on stage but here’s what I observed:

  1. The noise was a loud static
  2. It changed volume in sync with the pedal’s position
  3. I could still hear the guitar as well, just with overlaid static
  4. The pedal made the noise with guitar, muted/guit volume pot off/no instrument/blank QC preset

Rebooting the pedal (unplug/replug power) fixed the issue. It’s permanently installed on my pedalboard so no jiggling/unplugging happening. Power supply is strymon ojai. QC power supply is stock.

the only difference between the stage and practice at home is I had output XLR 1 & 2 both plugged in; at home only XLR 1 was plugged in.

From what I understand this pedal doesn’t have advanced circuits that could fail in that way or that a reboot could plausibly fix. Maybe the problem is on the quad cortex side and rebooting the pedal was perhaps equivalent to plugging/unplugging the input?

Before I go tearing my board apart to diagnose I would love to hear if anyone else here has experienced something similar.

it’s not the volume pedal … I use it noise free at the head of my signal chain. GUitar > Lehle vol > input 1, no noise introduced as far as I can hear. There are 2 inputs and a gain on the pedal, which input do you use? And how is your gain pot? I would check the gain first.

Inuse a Lehle volume pedal in loop 1 with no problems.

That what I noted in my last mail to you as well, so it might be a coincidence that rebooting all devices at a time helped, although not knowing what helped exactly.

Really curious what you will find out (my tips in the mail) .
