Next updates: plugins only?

Is NDSP just focusing on releasing the next “X” versions to QC or are we to expect other updates (effects, amps…)?. I’m not very impressed with the amp blocks on the QC, specially my go-to amp Vox AC30, so I rely on captures the most but would love for a improved Vox AC30 (and others) on the amp block. I tried a Fender Tone Master and the amp models are really great, feel like an amp… the effect department is just disappointing (no delays above 1500 ms, no usable - for me YMMV - pitch shifting…) but the amp models are really nice (and not just the Fender ones, the Vox AC30 was really nice).

The last update, CorOS 3.1.0, included:

No reason to believe that Neural won’t continue to add new amp or effects blocks, or update old blocks.

The overhaul of amps…in 4.0…or never.
Today i prefer QC captures over models, that are grainy and aliased and without all dynamic aspects that a capture has.
You on fender tonemaster, me with headrush prime 4.0…with prime It seems i’m playing CAPTURES of QC as quality, but they are …models.
But put your Heart in peace.
I think that the overhaul of amps models Will be really far…or never. I don’t know if this Is a limit of black box tech too…
Actually QC Is a dustykeeper and i’m playing / recording with prime, hoping in a future QC overhaul of models (when?.. :-D)

there’s no need for an amp model overhaul lol…

well, ya gotta admit the ones they have updated so far have been great improvements. We never heard back from the TINA questionnaire they let us participate in, which gave the impression their process had developed and improved, but we still don’t know much about what’s going on behind the scenes there.
There are definitely a few amps on the QC I think most users feel could be represented better (Dual Recto…)

There are still some amps, effects etc that were announced (and still are ) and not released yet so there are more that are comming.

The “very aggressive plan to had new amps and features” also was clear at the time although it was removed from the FAQ and replaced by" the collections of sounds will continu to grow, permanently.

Some people thinks it’s already great as it is and some are way more demanding (i am, the QC feels like a dreamcast for me, for those who understand the analogy).

Its not much about adding new ones but improving the current ones. For instance, in my use case, a cranked AC30 sounds nothing like my real AC30 - its grainy and harsh not matter which IR I use and even with a real cab.

QC for me leads in form factor, UI, number of switches and design but the amp models just lacks behind other units.

If NDSP improved the amp blocks it would kill. Even if it’s black box approach they can improve the captures and make terrific amp blocks, IMHO. They really should focus on this in my opinion.

Have you tried capturing the amp sounds you like on the tone master pro with the QC? Seems like then you could have the best of both?

I could yes - but that was not my original point/goal. It seems overkill I have to own two units and use one to make captures… I do think the QC lacks behind other on the amp models but surpasses in form factor, UI, design, number of switches…

Some little things also nag me a bit… having to put delays at ~82%/85% to obtain equal volume between dry and repeats (could be some kind of logic to this but 50% seems more intuitive?) Also that mix is kinda by “ear” not a definitive value and the noise gates doesn’t seem very good (the Helix noise gate and the Fender one are great! - to mention two I owned).

Other than this the QC is a fantastic unit with great merits, I just think if it can improve in some issues/models sounds it would be TOP!

What I meant was this kind of replacement for all the amp blocks (of course during a period of time):

Agree with the delay percentage a ton. The decision to make them not make any sense with 50/50 being equal parts dry and effect, etc is a pretty insane move. I don’t see why they would make that such an arbitrary function. To me it feels like if they didn’t have the ms or eq filters match what the display shows, and decided to just make it their own arbitrary decision. Pretty much any plugin for reverb and delay has the blend knob correlate correctly.

I do feel one of the gates in QC is better than Helix, specifically for ability to sidechain. That’s such an awesome feature that I’m surprised Line 6 hasn’t incorporated. I wish there was a side chain gate in QC that wasn’t just adaptive gate, but appreciate it as a helpful tool that’s very quick to dial in.

This all goes to show how subjective all of this is. Niksounds prefers his HR Prime. A buddy of mine bought one (also owns a QC). Although the Prime is way ahead of the QC in quantity of onboard models and nuts n bolts stuff like footswitch and MIDI programability., we both prefered the sound of the QC. MayPRS isn’t happy with most of the models, noting the AC30 specifically. Although, I don’t love them all, I’ve found the quality of the QC’s models to be excellent, overall, and love the AC30 presets I’ve created (once I started using the 212 UK C30 cab). So much of it is based on what each person wants to hear and their ability to create it. That said…I am looking forward to a new Leslie model. :crossed_fingers::rofl:

you want them to replace current amp models with Captures?

That list is of devices that were going to be models but never made it to the QC, so they dumped all the captures they intended to ‘construct’ the models from onto the QC. So we have thousands of Factory Captures now, with no info about them and have to sort thru and play the earball guessing game. They sound great, IMO, but man is it a nightmare info-wise

That screenshot is so confusing from Neural. Wish the proposed models actually became models instead of - oops nvm let’s do an easy alternative

I agree in part with you, at 90% because there are things that imho are not subjective
Example

This Is has nothing to do with flabby behaviour well know of recto, or with cuts to do…
This Is aliasing, well knowed on QC , and this ON MODELS, Is to improve guys…

I’ve commented on this video before so I won’t go into that. Concerning the aliasing allegations, with the QC converters sampling at a rate approximately 8 times the highest frequency produced by an electric guitar speaker, I doubt that aliasing is the culprit. I’ve had good success taming that harmonic rattle with a high cut filter. If you’re hearing a sound that I’m not and the sound is a hardware issue, software will never solve it. If the Prime is giving you what you want and the QC isn’t, why keep the QC?

Exactly - these dudes are just not prepared to listen. So flippen frustrating !!!

doubts are legit
Audible? YES!
Blue is QC, measured by a BAD and UGLY guy on JCM800
But without pic too… it’s audible…
Then… Is QC the most common/“spreaded” selled unit? YES
But the aliasing is audible =)
And they will improve the amps for shure…
My last post in this thread, ah… Rodstir, you are free to denigrate now if it makes your day better =)

Captures are still better than models (for now at least)…go look for really good captures (free or a for a few $).
