New SOON vid⏳

This “SOON“ wanna-be-marketing is a dead horse.
Once is funny, twice may be too, but now it’s boring repetition.

Do you expect something new, something really exiting? Somehow I have some doubts.

We’ll see what kind of surprise it may be…

Looks like a unit in between the nano and the quad. Very interesting. Did NOT see this coming.

I’m excited to see it!

Posting because I’m excited. So far I’m seeing guesses like:

  1. “Dual” Cortex to go in between Nano and QC, function- and price-wise
  2. “Octo” Cortex or a “QC2” (greatly expanded processing power)
  3. Cortex rack unit
  4. Desktop audio interface with capture tech
  5. Companion device for connecting to QC and Nano; possibly a MIDI controller

I think #1 is most likely.

Might be NDSP’S answer to Fractals new AM4.

After the tomorrow-announcement we know, it will have 4 buttons. If it’s a four-button mix of Nano and Quad Cortex, I realy hope they’ve finally settled on a reasonable setlist/song/sonpart structure. Maybe not as complex with backing tracks as Showcase, but at least with the option to switch sequentially through all the necessary presets for a song in the right order with a single button. Otherwise, the controls will once again be so bad during the performance that you won’t be able to use it without an external MIDI controller. And then the form factor will lose its advantages again.

Its a bass-cortex to compete with anagram.

This would be a strange choice. There really aren’t a lot of bass effects on the QC anyways. Also Neural’s founder also started Darkglass. He sold it to Korg, but I think he might still have some ownership in it or monetary ties (?). Could be wrong about that though.

Just feel they wouldn’t compete with it, or have enough bass specific effects to justify a bass cortex. Would feel like just mainly models of distortion/amps from the owners previous company haha

I was just piling on the useless speculation. I wouldn’t really expect that either. I have no idea what they could be announcing.

Maybe its a piece of hardware that runs only plugins.

I don’t want to explicitly spoil the work that Neural puts into a formal announcement. What they worked on looks damn cool. @DiffractionCircuit’s list is, well, a really good list…

$1400 for a Cortex mini seems expensive to me.

Didn’t see that at all but it look nice and i think it’s a good idea !

Wow… they shrunk already the smallest/best form factor device.

Crazy

I’m excited for this for two reasons. I don’t have to buy it since it’s essentially the same as a QC with less footswitches. AND it seems that this devices won’t spread the development team too much more since it appears they run of the same architecture!

Gonna be stepping all over that screen.

Bon appétit!

Looks great, excited to see some real-world demos and experiences. In the meantime: released alongside CorOS 4.0? Sweet!! That ‘Blossom’ reverb looks really cool , stoked to try it out tonight (bye bye volume pedal perhaps!)

Hey another Kraken fan (Seattleite here)! Enjoy your lunch! haha. I called it with a Mini Cortex, but definitely wasn’t the form factor I expected.

Not very creative, is it.
