Nano Cortex USB MIDI / MIDI Host / User Experience?

I have a Morningstar MC-3 which can send MIDI from its USB port.

I believe that to use MIDI input on the NC USB port, that I need a MIDI host between the Morningstar and the NC.

Question:
Does anyone have experience of using a MIDI host?
If so, which host did you use?

Other Notes:
I am using the TRS port with an expression pedal.
It would be great if in a future update if the TRS MIDI was expanded to pass MIDI expression messages. (As I do on my Kemper Player).

Thanks
David

I use a live DAW Cantabile on a windows laptop for my host. But I have my PC changes via the USB. I use an expression pedal connected via TRS to the Nano.

I have a Mini Setup here, works great!
Using the mwave PLUS (important) in Host Mode via USB. TRS in the NC ist for Expression pedals. But should also work on the leave pedal, via cc.

Sorry:
MWAVE pedal

I have since bought a CME H2 MIDI Pro which sits between the Morningstar MC-3 and the Nano Cortex. The CME acts as the Host and the MC-3 is working.
I still have my Dunlop Volume X Mini in the TRS port.

I will investigate the M-Vave Chocolate PLUS, (which has the Host mode).
The advantage of this over the Morningstar and CME combination is that it is one component rather than two, and I’ll have four buttons instead of three.

Thanks

It’s good to know it worked for you. I also have the M VAVE Chocolate Plus, but I couldn’t get it to work. Could you please tell me how you were able to control the Nano Cortex via USB with the M VAVE? I would really appreciate it.

No problem!
I’ll get back to you later this evening.

Thank you very much, blessings

This is not the final build yet…
But:
You can hopefully see what’s going on here.
I have both, the usb c power and the usb c “midi” cable, connected to the mwave plus. The power connection is important, otherwise the mwave won’t go into " Host mode", (even if it’s mode switch it’s set to “Host”).
The NC is connected to the “midi usb”, and the trs-input is for the expression pedal only.

You would need to change the behaviour of the mwave via the “cube suit” app to “advanced custom mode” 1 or 2.
This gives you lots of possibilities, like setting the right PC numbers, according to your NC’s set numbers. I hope this makes sense…

Let me know if you need some more help.
Hope you get it running!

hi.. so with this method I only have to use Mwave and nothing else? no object like behringer go midi host and similar? I await yours and thanks for everything

Nothing else needed, just look at the picture above.

ok, thanks for the info… regarding the expression pedal do you use a trs to ts cable or trs to trs? thanks… I bought M-vave chocolate and a dunlop dvp4 pedal as an expression..

Nano Cortex expects TRS for Expression Pedal Input.

I haven’t found a way to control Nano’s FX via midi… otherwise we could connect any expression pedal to the chocolate and work our beloved FX from there too. Just as an alternative.

Anybody?
