Multiple Channels within Amp models/captures

I would love to have the option of switching channels within amp models or even capturing those in one profile. Right now it’s another capture/model for each channel of one amp. For example there are multiple devices of an amp with e.g. a clean, Rhythm and lead channel. Would be awesome to just load a multi channel amp (for example a vh4) and be able to switch channels without having to switch the capture/model

I think you can do that if you used different models in the mode where each button will switch to a different rig

A capture is a snapshot of a single tone. Captures can’t deal with changing tone including modulation or delay effects. So a multi-channel amp would need a different capture for each amp. You can handle the switching with either presets or snapshots. The amp models in QC are quite good and very flexible. That’s another good option.

I was about to create a new post when I found this and though I would revive it.

In update CorOS 3.1 they released Deluxe Reverb models with switchable channels and they sound fantastic - much better than all of the older Fender amp models.

It would be great to see updates like this not only for the other Fender amps, but all of the models which are divided into different models per channel. I realise this would make the DSP heavier, but perhaps there is some clever coding where the model is just a shell, and its interface just points to the different models behind the scenes.

For example, the Mesa Boogie Lone Star is a great model, but it takes some serious admin to use; here are all of the models which are just switches on the real amp:

CA 1Star Clean 100W Normal

CA 1Star Clean 100W Tweed

CA 1Star Clean 50W Normal

CA 1Star Clean 50W Tweed

CA 1Star Drive 100W Normal

CA 1Star Drive 100W Tweed

CA 1Star Drive 50W Normal

CA 1Star Drive 50W Tweed

Some amp blocks do this by now, like the Dumbbell ODS (Dumble Overdrive Special), the Soldano SLO-100 plug-in version, and more.

There’s a drawback to this. For any of the amp models with a channel switch select inside them, there’s an audible gap when you use scenes to switch the channel. This implies that when you switch channels, the amp block has to “load” the DSP of the other channel.

If you absolutely need gapless scene switching, then you have to load multiple instances of the same amp block on the grid and leave each one on a separate channel–which defeats the purpose of having all of your channels in one amp block, AND can take up more DSP overall.

I’m not against having more amp blocks with channel switching in them. It makes sense. But don’t take away the individual channel blocks, either.
