Moving effect from Line 1 to Line 3 changes the sound

Question… I have noticed if I move an effect at the end of my chain from line 1 to line 3 the sound changes drastically.

Example. I am running out of CPU so I decide to take change the output to 3. On line 3 I change the input to 1. I move the last effect down from line 1 to line 3. Example: Chief CS3 Compressor.

I would expect this to sound exactly the same but it is wildly flatter.

Does anyone know why this is and what can be done to spread the chain across lines 1 and 3 without changing the tone?

I figured out my own I was not seeing the output to “ROW” 3. I was setting it to output “3” Silly mistake.
