Midi Keyboard into QC (as audio interface)

Before using the QC as my main audio interface, I was using a Focusrite 4i4 audio interface.
With that old one, I was easily able to midi out from my midi keyboard to the Focusrite’s midi in, and then play with VST’s in my DAW.
However with the QC, I cannot seem to make this work. Is there a solution for this?

An AUDIO interface is not the same as a MIDI interface. Words are important  You talk about audio interface but you are describing a MIDI interface. An audio interface allow your computer to send/receive digital audio data to/from external analog audio. A MIDI interface allow your computer to receive and send MIDI data to/from external MIDI compatible device.

Your Focusrite interface is really is two different interfaces inside the same device : an audio interface and a MIDI interface. I know that the QC can act as an audio interface but I don’t think it can act as a MIDI interface.

I see, I assumed since both were audio interfaces and both had a MIDI IN port, that the QC could take over the old responsibilities no problem (especially at its price point).

All you need to do is plug in the midi keyboard via usb to your computer and it will work fine. You don’t need the interface to translate the midi…If your keyboard doesn’t have USB out for the Midi, then just get a Midi to USB adaptor. This is what most people do, especially when they are using higher end convertors for recording as opposed to basic interfaces. Basically any DAW will recognize the midi keyboard and accept it for controlling VST’s

That’s a good point, thank you! I will see if my midi keyboard can do that
