has anyone had any luck with setting up the expression through the MorningStar into the nano cortex? Right now I have a TRS from MorningStar, going into the nano cortex to control it through Midi. I’ve set up the expression pedal to control CC1 parameter. I did just like the morningstar video said and calibrated my expression pedal with it plugged into the Nano directly and then assign the parameter for it to control, then go back to midi mode. However I am not able to get the expression pedal to send from the morningstar. I know the solution is to use USB midi host and the plug my EXP direct but I am having a hard time finding a USB c cable that will fit with my board being as tight as it is.
Hi there,
I have the MC8 Pro, but I’m sure it will be the same on the MC6. One thing you might be overlooking is setting the Omniport to MIDI Out - Type A (Standard). Be sure to hit ‘Save Settings’.
Let me know if this resolves the issue.
Good luck!
I’ll confirm tomorrow but I believe I have it set up correctly
I do have it set correctly, I have been able to turn FX on and off with the mc6 no problem, just not expression control going from the Exp into MC6 then out to nano via midi.
Couple things I can think of.
-
What expression pedal are you using? I use the DVP4 which is the ‘Voltage Divider’ option. You may need to change this setting on the MC6.
-
Are you using a TRS/TRS cable from the MC6 to the Nano Cortex? I don’t think a TS cable will work.

If you haven’t done so, double check the configuration, particularly the MIDI Channel.
Here is how I have my expression setup in the Morningstar Editor:
Where I have my DVP4 going into the Omniport 1 (I think for you this is EXP1 on the MC6), and then Omniport 2 (EXP2 for you), is a TRS to TRS cable to the NC EXP/MIDI In.
Here is my configuration for the NC:
For posterity, here is my configuration in ‘Expression Pedal’. This toggles on/off a Wah on PREFX2 slot, and also controls the Wah amount. Again, as you’ve mentioned, switching back to MIDI mode after configuring.
Lastly, you may need to check the MIDI Channel Settings on the MC6. IIRC, I never changed mine. This is how it was by default.
Good luck!
