Loud Pop when turning on?

I just received my unit yesterday. I am so far absolutely thrilled with it. Sounds fantastic and the user interface is also fantastic. However I’m a little concerned about the loud pop when I turn it on if my FRFR cabinet was turned on first. Most of the sound companies / engineers are not going to be happy after they get me all hooded up, then I turn this thing on and it pops the hell out of their speakers / PA. Does anyone else notice this or is it possible I have a setting incorrect or a defective unit?
Thanks

As with all speaker advice, turn on your speakers last when turning everything else on. And when turning everything off, your speaker(s) should be the first thing turned off. Follow this and loud pops will never be a problem, no matter what device you’re using.

Although I fully agree with Imdur’s advice (this is simply necessary for the safety of our technology), I still believe that this very situation in the field of instrumentation requires a radical attention, since people are not robots and make mistakes too often. There are guitar processors and other sound devices on the market that turn on without a click, the problem is not absolute and has a practice of solutions.
Guitarman, I also have a loud pop, but a little quieter than the level from which I start to worry and pre-turn off the speakers (BEHRINGER Truth B3031A)

Thanks for your reply. It is no problem for me to Turn my CLR cabinet on last but when wired direct to the pa you can almost guarantee I t will be on when I turn the Quad on. The sound company with their 10-30k sound system is not going to be happy. Neither is anyone not wearing ear plugs. I hope, no pray They address this soon in an update. The outputs should be isolated and silenced during boot up. Even my 500 dollar amplifier 12 is much quieter.

If the QC platform allows to change the startup process so much that Pop is eliminated, @Doug I’m ready to buy a second, because the first sold

It’s pretty common for your mixer input to be muted until you ask for it to be turned on.

Or, you know, don’t plug the cable in until it’s on

Big problem, should be solved. That noise during boot up should be eliminated.

I use a Mission Gemini. I turn the volume down to 0 when turning on, or off. The pop is then minimal.

It also pops when turning off.

Maybe turn it on and after it starts plug the XLR’s for PA?

In my case I get continuous buzz hum from my amp after I turn the QC off. This is unacceptable since it means I have to unplug from the amp at that time.

Until someone trips on the power supply in the middle of a set…

Hey, all, I’ve worked in the audio industry for many dacades and this is just nature of the beast. Your amplification always goes on last and goes off first (or mutes). You won’t catch any competent audio tech turning off his board before the mains are down. Some devices are prone to noise at start up/shut down, some aren’t, but you always assume they are. I’ve worked with some very expensive gear that makes horrible noises at power-up/down. Do you unplug your guitar with your amp on? If so, STOP! Downstream on last, off first and do all you can to avoid accidental shut-downs up-stream.

I realize my reply is about 3 years late, but I wanted to leave a comment in case anyone else came across this thread in the future.
I also was concerned about the popping sound of my Mission Engineering Gemini 2. This cab will pop with NOTHING connected. This is an active (powered) FRFR cabinet, not a passive one, so the AMPLIFICATION IS INTERNAL.
However, after contacting Mission Engineering, Paul explained that the pop sound when powering on a Gemini 2 cabinet is a normal phenomenon and is not typically a cause for concern. It’s related to the speaker drivers being activated as the power is applied, and it does not harm the unit.

As far as pissing off the sound guy at venues, well…not much can be done about that
