Was just wondering the same… With a 2A output, the QC would probably work until it got pushed hard. Not sure that I would trust the Mooer for long-term gigging unless it had the 3A to meet the spec
The main power drain is the display. So if you turn the brightnes of the display down, you will only got at start up up to 1.8 A (because the display unneccesarily pulls up 100% in the boot process). After that it is abou 1.2 an 1.4 A. Somewhere here in the forum is a video where someone had measured it :-).
Hey @ryancglynn, I finally took some photos of the reverse polarity cable I use. [Pardon the rat’s nest underneath my board.] It’s definitely a 2.1mm male-female cable:
I don’t see this listed on Voodoo Lab’s website anymore, but the reverse-polarity cable I linked to above will work.
Do these cables come with the Eventide PowerMax?
Thanks
No. You have to get it separately.
Thanks. Is this the right one?
Yes, that is the right one. You need 3 of those to combine 4 outlets into 1.
Hey there! Thanks for the info on this cost effective solution! Question: are you using an adapter to US power or are you in the uK?
I am using a cioks dc7 on my board. Pedals consist of the QC, Strymon Timeline, and a line6 wireless receiver.
I had been using the multi power adapter method out of the cioks to power the QC. On a few occasions, the QC started acting wierd ie. no sound, responding extremely slowly or not at all to switching input. This most recently happened at a gig where I had to reboot multiple times during the performance.
When I start researching, the very first question is usually ‘what power supply are you using’, suggesting the original supplied power supply was the correct option (which honestly, I don’t disagree with at all, I was just looking for a convenient solution).
So……to remove the question of power supply altogether, I wound up getting a splitter that will supply one lead to the cioks, and one to the factory power supply for the QC. It all fits tidy under the temple audio board so having a couple power tails isn’t really an eye sore (at least not from the top of the board )
Here’s a link
Doesn’t that voodoo lab adaptor go from 2.1mm to 2.5mm though? Wouldn’t you need 2.1mm at both ends?
Good question. Disregard the VoodooLab link I posted above. 2.5mm will not work for the QC. These cables have dual “female” connector ends.
Here are VoodooLab’s 2.1mm reverse polarity cables:
https://voodoolab.com/product-category/cables/reverse2-1/
HOWEVER, in my case I needed a reverse polarity cable with one “male” end and one female. The male end is still a 2.1mm pin but with a wider diameter barrel to pair with the typical 2.1mm female connector type coming from a power supply.
2.1mm center-pin-positive female from power supply → 2.1mm male end on adapter cable
2.1mm female end on adapter cable (now made center-pin-negative) → QC
I hope this makes sense. The Amazon link for the reverse polarity cable I linked to above will work.
Great! Appreciate you taking the time with such a detailed response. Thanks!
