Get a free plugin when you purchase a Quad Cortex until the end of the year!

NDSP are running a promotion to boost new sales and are using it as a way to compensate, in some way, the folks that bought a unit right before a global price drop.

I already bought my unit and I’ve benefited from it since day one so I don’t feel I’m “owed” or “entitled” to anything. NDSP has continued to provide updates and new features for free as a show of loyalty to their current users. See if you get the same from other manufacturers that see those updates as a revenue stream. If they choose to send current users a thank you promotion, then that’s an awesome bonus IMO. Those of you that think they “owe” you something for providing what you paid for, and then some, confuse me.

They didn’t update for free to show loyalty, it was a clear selling point from them from the very begining with also the plugin compatibility, editor etc…

I also own a Kemper and free updates are constent, it improved a lot since the begining (it also was launched “not finished”).

Well it’s still better than nothing. Who knows, maybe it sounds awsome through the QC.

The plug-ins were never a selling point for me. I just want more effects, solid CoreOS and Cortex Control to have all the features they showed in their “Deep Dive” video.

Can we all just chill out on this? Seriously?

Every time that we’re waiting for the next big update to drop, people get reeeeeeally testy and bent out of shape with their expectations, then start blaming NDSP for not communicating enough. Some people threaten to sell their QC, others claim “It wasn’t like this with Helix/Fractal/Kemper”, etc. etc. etc.

NDSP said they’ve got something special for existing QC users. Let them do what they’re going to do.

I stick by what I said. Just because Kemper did it too, maintaining customers (loyalty) in the process, doesn’t make it an invalid statement. Do DAW manufacturers charge for upgrades as a clear disincentive to use their products? No, they view it as a revenue stream to pay for the cost of upgrades.

Modelers are a combination of HW and SW dev so it would be conceivable that they decide to charge for feature upgrades that are SW only. To do so would impact loyalty. This is what I’m saying.

Either way, I just see it differently is all. I never was one to get twisted in knots thinking I paid for something and didn’t get it, so every new feature added to the QC is a bonus to me. The only thing they “owed” me was taken care of with my initial purchase.

You think the QC would have sold if they had advertised limited number of features or paid updates when Kemper, Fractal and Line 6 have long track records with doing them for free?

If NDSP had of lived up to the launch statements (go look up Doug’s posts on TGP) by now, then I would have received what I paid for. That still hasn’t happened. I’m still very happy, specially now that Control is available. Been having more fun with the QC in the last 3 weeks than I have in the last year.

As for this latest free plugin for only new buyers. Who thought the way it was delivered was a good idea? Whoever is in charge of marketing hasn’t ‘read the room’ over the last 30 months. You’ll get something cool when we release the feature we said was trivial to port but it won’t be ready for 3 years.

Announce some really cool things for early adopters, then announce the free plugin a week later with reinforcing the early adopter teaser. That way nobody gets upset.

Bought QC in Dec 2021 and have one plugin already. Hope they will tell us any promotions for old users before Black Friday sale, otherwise I may buy another plugin on sale.

Fully agree.

Whatever NDSP does, some people are pissed off because they feel entitled to get everything for whatever reason.
The cow, the milk, the cheese and the milkmaid.

I also don’t understand the rationale of “I have paid more for the QC two years ago so I should get 25 plugins for free”.
Hey, I paid 3.000€ for a plasma TV once that was worth 200€ 5 years later. And I did not get anything in return from Sony.

Nobody is asking for 25 plugins, though. I think it’s reasonable that the people that got in at the ground floor and paid the original price should get like…one perk.

What is it with some of you CONSTANTLY defending this company like it’s your child? Are you plants or something? Some of you always paint any grievance, no matter how legitimate, as crybaby antics. Complacency is how companies get away with shafting their customers, although I’m not saying NDSP necessarily shafted anybody, but the communication between the consumer and the company leaves a lot to be desired.

As much as I’d like a free plugin, it is ridiculous to think they’ll compensate us because they dropped the MSRP, several years after release

Prob setting myself up for disappointment but what if the ‘surprise’ is that all cortex owners will have access to the blocks from the plugins - but ONLY on the device?

From a bug squashing pov this makes sense instead of endless combinations of block library composition to figure out. Would probably thoroughly shut everyone in forums up by making them super happy, would be a super attractive feature to sell more units on and hell, maybe even sell more plugins too once cortex owners see how incredible the vst’s are.

I dont want to get my or anyone else’s hopes up because they have in no way hinted at this - actually to the contrary it was already stated in a dev update that plugin block access would be based on plugin ownership and sync up via login. So maybe it will just be a free plugin, or something else entirely. I feel like this company absolutely loves watching us squirm regardless. But what if they rethought the whole approach, and the ‘surprise’ is something this big? Am i insane to suggest this could be?

That would totally be my preference. I don’t need a plugin or multiple, I want NDSP to put all the dev work on the QC into things that ALL owners can use. And I really don’t want to see effects and amp choices on the QC partially paywalled.

I’m fine with 3rd party ‘paywalls’ for the same kinda dev folks that catered to kemper for ex, but it seems like an eventuality so why not start now making the neural one unified platform?

Again to be clear i’m not expecting this to happen nor will i be disappointed if it doesnt. Just wanted to say it out loud, maybe its not as crazy as it sounds

I guess I seem to be defending NDSP first because I love their product, it has so much improved my gigging and practising experience.
And because I think critisism should have a certain fairness to it. Yes, I also paid more for the QC than it costs now. But why should I be angry about it or demand compensation? I don’t get it. It was my choice to buy it for the price at that time. And I do not regret it at all.
But I will shut up now, I already fell in the trap in this forum to be too positive and got kicked by some people for that. So I will remain happy and silent and enjoy my QC

In a vacuum I totally agree with you. Dropping MSRP shouldn’t mean they need to compensate those that bought before. I decided to buy the product when I did at a certain price and I have no regrets. But in this case they are providing compensation to those that bought before the price decrease and they decided to do so on their own. That changes the normal expectations. They say they’ve got something good for us so I’m not upset or anything. Just a concerned pessimist. Neural has been responding to comments on Instagram reassuring people that it’ll be good. Fingers crossed

It’s what i think too and i find it way less good than having the normal plugin and the QC form. Having both is way more versatile, way better imo.

Totally agree. Studio workflow is doable with cortex but way easier with plugs, the way i would use cortex it’s half the tracks to manage. We’re already dialed in with the plugins anyway. The big piece we’ve been missing (whole band uses cortex) is getting our presets on the device so once this comes, I’ll be happy no matter what the surprise is.

So yeah, agreed - I don’t think unlocking those blocks is going to negatively affect vst sales. And it provides an answer for all the plugin users asking for a ‘suite’ to neatly tie all the plugins together rather than do it via routing within daw. Want that? Buy a cortex.

From a marketing perspective, right now cortex doesnt do anything other modelers can’t. There’s already stuff out there with a touch screen. With capture capability. Etc…. However there’s nothing else out there that can say it has all the tones from the most popular plugins baked in.

Again, not getting my hopes up, but it really isn’t that crazy an idea.

OK I got the email announcing it as in the OP but have not seen a link to get it. When it says “inbox” what inbox, where I get my normal email frp, Neural I don’t see an inbox on my QC or in the CC app. I’m all connected to the cloud and doing backups and downloads.

Do I need to fill out the form and how can I ensure my unit IS associated with my account and registered otherwise?

Thanks in advance

Dan told us, that we will get a special gift, if we have bought the QC before August.
For myself, I’m happy, that I’ll get a gift.
After receiving the gift, there would be the time to complain, when the gift turns out to be a “greeting card” or something like this.

But for now, we don’t know, what we will get. It might turn out to be a special thing of great use, that we are getting.
So, why bother before and spread negative thought’s about a thing, that may turn out to be very positive.
