External footswitch to cycle through MODES

Is it possible to use an external dual footswitch (i.e. Ampero FS-1) to cycle through modes?

No MIDI, a simple external foot switch. Thanks!

I think you could only do this if you’re using the midi loopback jumper hack. You don’t have to have a midi controller, but you do need to connect QC midi to itself to execute this kind of command with an XP switch or pedal.

I already use it to automatically set to gig view. I can use it for multiple purposes?

you could, but like all XPs it’ll be assigned at all times for all functions. Not sure how it’d help that way. If you could separate functions by Preset Load or Scene Load vs the actual switch you might find it more flexible.

Thanks. I checked on the device and learned more about the midi loopback. As soon as I’ll get the footswitch I will experiment and report here. thank you.

I got a dual footswitch:

  1. Only one switch works
  2. I can assign the switch to one mode (I.e. Stomp), but there is no way to cycle though them, so you remain in that mode.

Final result: impossible to achieve the desired function

There are other options too

Thank you, but I can’t go the MIDI route because I use it to switch automatically to gig view…and this is not something I like, to waste midi in/out for such a simple function.

I apologize that I steered you wrong here, I thought for sure it could be done this way but it appears I was mistaken. Cycling thru the Modes is apparently more problematic than I realized. I had done it with an XP, but it seems the switch setup is not compatible. I’ll run some tests as soon as possible and try to find a workaround, but it may be that the ‘cycling’ function requires more than a single switch can handle.

My bad…

I think your only option is MIDI though… The device I suggested does enable you to enable/disable ‘Gig view’ by long pressing the button.
