Just curious if anyone has played a gig in direct sunlight, has your QC experienced any issues being in the sunlight for an extended period of time?
I’ve played multiple gigs with temps in the 90s F (32°C+) and at least one set in direct sunlight. Although seeing the display was difficult, the QC had zero problems. Being that high temperatures can speed component degradation, it should probably be avoided if possible.
I have played a few gigs in direct sunlight at around 30degC temperature.
Be careful when touching the QC, the casing gets really hot then. But it worked without problems.
In my case, I had a concert where the sun was shining heavily, and the unit shut down due to overheating. I put it in the shade for a few minutes with a fan next to it, and it turned on without a problem. I’m from Spain, and the sun may be too strong here. Be very careful with the sun.
This was my exact concern. Thanks for replying!
My iPad has gone into thermal shutdown before the QC ever did on gigs in the 90s F (32°C+), but only under direct sunlight, never just ambient temperature. In those scenarios, always have to remind myself to cover these devices before and between sets with a towel, carrying case, etc… and they have never shut down.
Same here, my iPad went on thermal shutdown the other day while my QC kept working flawlessly. Outdoor gig, 35°C ambient, even more on direct sunlight (I’m in the south of France).
