Crash n Burn Latest Firmware

So I just did the latest firmware update and boy do I regret it. Worked fine for a couple of days and all of a sudden, the QC shut off on its own then started flashing blue LED lights then I got the grey screen of death and that was it folks. Damn I miss my Kemper Stage.

Sorry to hear it.

Ensure you are using the OEM power supply. If worst case, email support@neuraldsp.com and they will get you sorted.

Sorry for you, I also have a kemper (the head with the remote control) which is for sale but with a high price.

I would need that money but i never fully trusted the QC as i never giged with it so far but i will.

Of course I am using the proper power source. I contacted neural support before I posted on here. It’s been 24 hours and I’m still waiting for them to respond. Meanwhile, I have a dead QC on my pedalboard.

I’d suspect the SD card needs to be reseated.

I suspect that as well but I’m not not opening up the QC. Don’t want to touch anything that might void any warranty

yup that fixes most QC problems

no seals on unit sd card is replacable its got me going again on more than a few occasions open it up reseat sd card and reboot

If you don’t hear from support by tomorrow, DM and I will escalate directly to support for you.

Thanks. I’ll be in touch. Right now, I’m trying to do an install of my April backup. Gonna see if that works. But I’ll be in touch. Thanks

Mine has been bricked as well. Just pulses blue. I was so excited to get this now it has become a huge regret. I’ve had it less than a month.

This is all messed up. After three emails , they finally responded back asking for an original invoice and serial number and once I sent it to them, they tell me to call Sweetwater for repairs etc. just like you , I’ve had mine for about 6 months and was getting some good sounds. Now, once I get it back, I don’t know what I’m gonna do with it. This last long awaited update was a bust also. Yay! On screen tuner. Anyway, let’s just what kind of run a around I start getting

That truly sucks! Sorry you have to go through that! I would imagine (hopefully) that an RMA/replacement via Sweetwater would be quicker than sending to their repair facility and waiting for return.

I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble with this! A year ago, I had to send mine back too; one of the outputs stopped working. The process was the same: the QC went back to the dealer, who then sent it to Neural DSP. I guess that’s the standard “return policy” agreed upon with the dealer. I had it back within two weeks and haven’t had any problems with it since. A piece of advice from me: it’s better never to install a software update as soon as it’s available. It’s better to wait a week or two. That’s when most errors become obvious. After that, we get “the update for the update”

To be fair. If you look at the history of updates, and especially this latest update its not like all users are uniformly experiencing the same issues. I understand what you are saying. But at the same time. Some had zero issues, some people have tuner issues, some have had their units completely shut down on them. Also its a very small sample size of people who are regularly active in using the quad to the point that some may have issues they never even notice because they dont use a particular feature. In other words, I honestly dont think there is any way to know if you are going to have a negative effect from an update without actually doing the update. Which with every new update introduces a different set of bugs that need correcting.

I personally have not seen an update where there wasnt at least one person saying things got worse. Some say things got better. This to me signifies there is at least some small differences between the various revisions that make their updates almost impossible to foolproof. IMHO, there should be a fail safe in the sofware.

I dont know how hard it would be to implement but onboard health diagnostics information almost like a data log for corruption I think would be a great thing for the quad. So say you are downlowading an update. If the unit detects any abnormalities it should abort the update and tell you to contact support for further assistance. The update should be scanned for corruption and not allow an update unless there is a strong enough wifi signal. And maybe an update pause function that will pickup where it left off if you lose internet during an update.

Maybe they cant guarantee updates will be free of bugs. At this point I think they need to have cortex control also have a health monitor. So when you plug in via USB it can run a diagnostic just like a computer and see if there is anything that needs attention or even warnings.

It also seems like the units that are going blank are what I call “in between” units. They dont have the old build design that most people have but it also lacks the ESS codec. This makes me wonder if the majority of beta testers in the program are actually using an older unit. It would make sense as it represents the majority of users. So far, and I may have missed it but I havent seen anyone go completely bricked on units with the older build design.

I came from Kemper and Fractal so yea I was quite aware of doing updates right away. But I guess I fell into the hoopla of the updates since it had been a while that an update came out. What’s ironic is that this latest update didn’t even benefit me as a user but still went ahead and did it. Lesson learned. I always wait to see how other users came through with their updates, but not this time. As far as the return policy, once Neural emailed me back after I sent them three emails, they told me to contact Sweetwater. Sweetwater took three more days to contact me back and when they did, they sent me a two day shipping label back their repair department. So it was a little bit of a run-a-round. Should get it back in about 4-5 weeks.
