Hey folks, when I have tried to download some captures over the past three or so days, they haven’t appeared on my QC. I have already emailed the folks at support@neural and their responses haven’t been helpful YET (I have faith, but the response time isn’t exactly instantaneous and I imagine we aren’t in the same time zone), and I have already send in error reports.
On Cortex Cloud, I’m seeing the green check mark on captures, yet these captures have not appeared on the Cortex Control app or on the Quad Cortex. This leads us to the next issue I’m having - the QC throws up the error message 502 when I try to access the “downloads” section in the Neural Captures section of the menu when the QC is connected to the internet. When my QC is not connected to the internet, I am able to access this folder and despite the massive amounts of lag I’m experiencing, I have been able to delete a whoooole bunch of unused captures.
I have tried all the common sense solutions (cycling the power, deleting files, restoring to a backup after a factory reset).
My highly uninformed hypothesis is that during a particularly extensive downloading spree (I was at work at the time, it was slow) I may have exceeded the number of captures that the QC can process at one time, which has since caused errors with the cloud communication. However, I am a bit of a luddite in the gear/software world and there’s a good chance my hypothesis / diagnosis is
entirely off base.
One thing that might be odd is I have not moved any captures into the ‘my captures’ folder - everything is still living in the download folder (I have primarily used the cortex control) - I plan on trying this after I finish this monster of a post.
Thank you in advance for any help ya’ll can provide.
the only time I’ve seen those particular error messages concerning DLs were when corrupt captures were involved. Deleting the offending caps solved the issue. However, I haven’t seen reports of corrupt files in quite some time.
How many items are in your Downloads cap folder, would you estimate?
My QC captures slots are full, and I have quite a few in my DL folder also with no room to move them to. I don’t think I’ve ever heard official word on how many can float in that ‘limbo’ zone, maybe that’s worth asking support what the capacity is there. I’d be very curious to hear what happens when you start moving some caps out of that holding pen.
Also, the Cloud has been experiencing ‘issues’ since the Nano was introduced; sometimes it was just speed-related, but it’s possible it affected other aspects too. Will be interesting to see if anyone else has had this issue and resolved it.
Have you posted anywhere else? Maybe the Discord server? There are many power users there who might be able to help.
There’s anywhere between 4,000 to 8,000 captures in the limbo location. I’ve spent a LOT of time deleting extra captures and ‘canceling’ downloads on Cloud Cortex (this is under the my account tab where you can search the caps you have downloaded)
The folks at NDSP did respond and they said they will cancel the downloads on their end, but that has yet to happen (or less likely, wasn’t the fix)
I’m hoping to hear back from the NDSP support line - hopefully they can help fix my issue.
WOW. Yeah, that’s a lot. I wasn’t sure it could even hold that many. I think the unit maxes out at 2048 slots for ‘My Captures’ and the same amount for Cloud storage.
I assumed the Downloads folder would hold far fewer, but we’ve never been told officially.
Hope they get you sorted!
My understanding (or my own experience, I should say) was that deleting pending DLs in Cortex Cloud does not delete them from your machine- you still have to do that manually.
Have you tried creating a new NDSP account, factory resetting your QC, and starting fresh? You would still have the option to sign back into the other account and restore your previous config, but maybe it would at least prove it was an issue with the account and not the unit? I’ve had to do that in the past when my ybackup process became corrupt.
I’d really like to hear how many caps the DL Folder can hold, if you don’t mind asking them while you’re sorting this all out.
awesome! Sounds like that cleared out the logjam on the Cloud, I guess.
I’d probably load up a backup to the new account ASAP though, if you haven’t already (in case you stay with the new account and ever have to restore the content on your QC presently)
