Ive seen captures of actual acoustic guitars on the online library. Might sound like a stupid question but how does someone capture an intstrument?
they aren’t made directly from the instrument on the QC; an IR is created first, much like you would with a cabinet IR (but in this case w/ piezo pickup or mic)
Then you can capture the IR thru a DAW, that’s how they become captures on the Cloud.
Thanks i have created my own IRs using cukis program. Its capturing them from the DAW that im a bit confused by. Would i use a second audio interface?
Yes.
I made some of the acoustic instrument captures on the Cloud by doing it this way. You use an IR loader in your DAW and send your capture signal thru an external interface, and feed the return from that interface back to the QC.
It’s essentially the exact same procedure as capturing a plugin, which there are several videos of on youtube if you need to check the configuration. The main difference is you now have several gain stages that all need to be balanced out.
Thanks for your reply on this and my other post on the IR loader pedal. Im a total noob at the audio tech stuff so i will have to watch your capture video a few times. I only have a focusrite scarlet as the other audio interface so im not sure its up to the job with only one output. Might be easier for me to create the IR and just capture it from the TC Electronics IR pedal.
