Can Cioks Crux be used with Pedal Power 2 Plus to power the QC?

Hi everyone. I’m fairly new to the Quad Cortex but super excited about how easy it’s made my life in terms of gigging.

I’m putting together a pedal board for my live Quad Cortex rig. I went with the Temple Audio Duo 24. I’ll have the Quad Cortex, Mission Engineering SP1-ND expression pedal, and a Digitech Whammy.

I own a Voodoo Lab Power Pedal 2 Plus. I don’t really know what I’m doing so I bought a Cioks Crux to help power the Quad Cortex. Can the Pedal Power 2 Plus work the Crux?

All I know about the Quad Cortex’s power needs are:
Requires 12v @ 2A (2000 mA) Center Negative minimally. Otherwise 3000mA at 12v.
The actual current draw of the Quad Cortex is 1.8A (confirmed by Neural DSP). 3A is the rating of the wall wart that ships with the Quad and that is the rating chosen as the published requirement.

This is what I know for the Pedal Power 2 Plus:
It has an AC auxiliary outlet with 200 watt max rating. It has 8 DC output jacks. Each providing 9volts. There is a Voltage selector dip switch. With the switches to ON it turns outputs 1-4 to 12.3v 60mA and outputs 5-6 to 12v 250mA.

I’m just trying to save money and not have to buy the Cioks DC7 if I can use the Pedal Power 2 Plus that I already own.

If anything can I plug the QC using its original power supply into the Auxiliary AC outlet on the Power Pedal 2 Plus? If I do that I guess I can return the Cioks Crux. I initially wanted to use that outlet on the Pedal Power 2 for the Digitech Whammy (2.4 Watts (< 265 mA @ 9 VDC).

This is all kind of overwhelming for me lol. Any help is appreciated!

Short answer is- no the Crux does not work with the Pedal Power 2 Plus. It does not have the proper power output to connect to a Crux

Ah, I see. I may just try to sell it and get the Cioks DC7. Unless I can use the Pedal Power 2 to power the Digitech Whammy and use the AC outlet to power the QC.

Thanks for your feedback!

EDIT: still getting used to the settings on this forum lol

You can plug the QC’s original power supply into the Pedal Power 2 Plus’s auxiliary AC outlet. Looks like it’s rated at 200 watts which is way more than enough juice to cover the QC’s needs:

The Digitech Whammy needs 9V 265 mA. You can get a “current doubler” (not the same thing as a voltage doubler) cable for the Pedal Power 2 Plus. Use that to combine two 9V outputs so that you can plug into your Whammy–either a 250 mA + 100 mA together, or 250 mA + 250 mA together.

The Cioks Crux will not work with Pedal Power 2 Plus. If you need it in order to make your pedalboard setup make sense (no bulky wall wart supply for QC, etc.), then you may still want the DC7.

I think this will be the best way to set it up. Just placed an order for the current doubler adapter cable.

Thanks for the input!
