Bottom ventilation? Can I cover it?

Is the bottom opening used for heat dissipation? Just wondering if I can lay the unit completely flat on a pedalboard that covers it up, or if I should route out a ventilation opening?

Mine has the bottom covered for over 3+ years without issue so I think you will be fine

There was a “Safety Leaflet” that came in the box which states, “Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat”. It doesn’t say anything about not covering up vents, however, and I didn’t see any warnings in the QC user manual.

You can probably get away with covering up the vent, but I would rather play it safe. When I was using the QC on my desk, I installed large rubber feet so the unit stood slightly elevated with airflow underneath. I used the screw holes from the cover to attach the feet without drilling new holes. Here are the ones I ordered ($12) but there are many many options online. EDIT: Note that the screws included with most feet will have the wrong threads; you may need to buy longer screws separately with the correct threads; don’t force it!

When I mounted the QC to my pedal board I cut wooden rails and pained them to match. This achieve the same thing - lifting the QC without blocking the bottom vent. I attached the wooden rails with standard pedalboard velcro on top & bottom.
