I have a big Problem. The Gate doesn‘t work usefull with High Gain (no OD in Front) and EmG 81. I have the Problem, that the Gate don‘t close hard enough at stakkato it ends always with a grinchy fade. I‘m on 85% and this also hard to get a feedback but if i turn it more back, the fade out is to much. It’s so sad, that we can‘t change some pedals or that it’s not possible to adjust attack and release. Any one else with this Problem?
I use Fishman Fluence Modern, so quite high output too, with the adaptive gate on the Quad Cortex (no I guess it is the same as the Nano one). I usually have it at 80% with the Gojira Hot + and overdrive in front for rhythm, and I have no problem. When I need very clean staccato (for fast chug for example), I just have it at 100% and it is very clean.
Anyways, with such levels of gain, you have to be very precise and clean with your muting technique with both hands, or at least, that is the case for me. High gain pickups + high gain amps are not forgiving. I also observed that the height of the pickups does matter quite a lot: as I installed myself the Fishman Fluence on my guitar, I noticed that I had them set up a tad too close to the strings and it was really hard to control. Lowering them did not alter at all the “grind” of the sound, but made them A LOT easier to control.
