Wireless MIDI for QC Mini

I have a QC Mini coming in tomorrow and I’m excited! I will need more than the 4 footswitches, so I was looking at MIDI controllers. In a perfect world, I’ll keep it small and light - and wireless.

I already own an XSonic Airstep Multicontroller and I also have the M-Vave Chocolate with the DIN / USB wireless dongle.

My understanding is that the big QC didn’t deliver power on the (DIN) MIDI ports, and I don’t expect the QC Mini to do that either via the 3.5mm jack MIDI connectors.

That leaves me with the following options - if I understand correctly:

  • Use either of the Floor Controllers wired via USB C.
  • Connect the USB A M-Vave dongle with a USB C adapter to the QC Mini to use it with the Chocolate
  • Get a WIDI Jack or U-Host and use the Airstep

Here are my questions:

If I get the CME WIDI Jack - do I “loose” the USB C to power the WIDI Jack or is there another way to keep that available?

Is the CME WIDI U Host the better solution as it already is on USB C and therefore requires one cable less?

Has anybody come up with a more elegant solution? I don’t want to use the USB C if not necessary. And if it is, then why not get everything through one cable instead of two or three?

I‘m using a set of WIDI, dependent on the dedicated interfaces.
