Quad Cortex usb Wireless

Does anyone uses WIDI master , Or other WIDI devices to replace the usb cable to the computer?
I only use the cable , to use Cortex Control , not for audio , I just got a Fryette Tube Power Amp , and is picking up a lot noise , what is eliminated when I unplug the USB.
I used before a Boss gt100 with WIDI Jack , paired with ac WIDI BUD on the computer , But the Boss editor would recognize the WID BUD as option of communication , I Don’t See any option to choose another way to communicate the editor With the Device using Cortex Control , Is there any way or is Cable my only option ?

I’m using three CME WIDI devices to connect QC with the MacBook and an amplifier.

It works very well.

The devices are:

  • WIDI Master (QC)
  • WIDI Jack (MacBook)
  • WIDI Bud Pro (amp)

CME Website

Because I don’t want QC to react on MIDI messages, I’m just using the WIDI transmitter (QC MIDI out).

The three devices are linked as a network. QC and MacBook are slaves, the amp is the master. Of course different configurations are possible.

But can you operate the QC with Cortex CONTROL ? And how do you get the app to discover the widi , because , the CC only opens when I plug the usb cable .
Or when you pair both widis , the CC automatically connects to QC ?

  • WIDI Master (QC)
  • WIDI Jack (MacBook)
  • WIDI Bud Pro (amp)

I think you got inverted ,
The WIDI Jack on the amp , because is midi port
the Widi Bud on the Mac because is USB ?

Just to be sure.

How does this work with cortex control and other interface functions?
there is another thread about the QC having bluetooth on the wifi module but it’s disabled, not sure what they would use it for if it was ever “enabled” but the nano is controlled completely through bluetooth and a phone app now so who knows.

So probably it is a future that may be in development , having the QC connected over bluetooth , I managed to connect the widi Jack and the widi bud paired to the Mac , after updating the units , technically my QC is connected to the Mac wirelessly , but the Cortex Control does not connect

Yeah… you’re right.

WIDI Bud Pro is MacBook
WIDI Jack is the amp

Cortex Control is not suitable for that. There is other software/ apps providing MIDI command set sending for control purposes.

Bluetooth discovers the WIDI only if the WIDI module is not connected to other devices. Thus it’s not possible to have multi connection operating mode.

CME offers an app for discovering, updating and configuration of the WIDI devices.
