Why do qc delays fade too quickly in terms of volume?

Was using the QC delay and reverb the other day. Honestly there is something strange with the mix knobs for those two effects. Somehow I have to put them around 70% to get what maybe 50% on actual pedals would be. It doesn’t seem that the ratio for dry/wet is accurate in the percentages. The decay/feedback of the effects also feels strange. I have to crank those up higher than a normal pedal as well……

Did anyone ever find a workaround for the quad’s delay mix drop off?

I recorded a few examples into logic to compare.

Top is my Timeline, second is quad’s tape delay and third is quad’s dual delay.

Even with mix cranked very high on quad, the drop off is a lot quicker than I am after.

I appreciate it isn’t a dedicated delay pedal, but if anyone has any solutions I would be most grateful.

Would it be possible to have a compressor after the delay crank the trails up?

yes, this is what I recommend usually. It can extend the trails quite a bit. In that case it’s usually best to have that delay on a parallel split, then you can also mix its overall level separately too

Your experiments were with very high ‘feedback’ setting? For more repeats?

This example was a long feedback, but it is the mix level that I am lacking as well.

You can see in the top audio track the repeats stay louder for longer, and the mix isn’t fully cranked on the timeline.

I’d love the mix on the quad to bring the repeat volume up a lot more.

Can you share some compressor settings for that use?
I’m not having a big problem with the fade off, but live i can’t put the mix or feedback too high because solos tend to sound all over the place with those settings.
