Walrus Audio Making New QC Power Supply

Looks like Walrus will be making a new power supply option for the QC and other modelers. The other images in the post show a few different modelers + the date August 13, 2024.

Assuming it’ll be a competitor to the Crux.

Friendly reminder that the QC runs happily using a £6 USB-C > 12V cable (plus a £4 polarity switcher), and a half decent USB-C brick.

Was at Walmart yesterday and walked through the markdown aisle and there was a Extreme Universal 3a multi 12V - 24v with multiple tips for $14 (reg. $24.62). At 12v actually supplies 5A according to the label. Checked the cords on it and they are much sturdier than the supplied one. Picked it up as a spare and for other uses. Check your stores if you’re in the market!

It’s not made by Universal Audio, it’s a “universal” power supply made by Extreme. At that price it may not be very well regulated or have good line noise filtering. It may cause problems when plugged into a line that has low or high voltage and/or a lot of “noise”. Buyer beware!

Sorry thought the “Audio” was edited out actually made by Extreme. Universal Soundbar Power Adapter | Xtreme Cables

Universal Audio is a pretty “stand-up” company so I would be suprised to see any of their products sold by Wallymart. Your new supply may work fine but I’d recommend keeping the stock PS handy, in case of problems.

12V
2A bare minimum, 3A recommended
Center-pin negative
2.1mm connector

As long as you have these, you can power a QC. Let’s see how much this new Walrus Audio power supply costs.

I have and use original and as noted this a backup for any and all my various pedals, noting it is multi volt and a cheap backup to have in the bag. Sorry if it offended those who choose to spend hundreds for one. BTW I still use a HumX on the QC power and he rest with an Iso-Block.

On Amazon:
Yep! Anything that is “PD” (power delivery) works great. Look for 20,000mah to make sure you can get +3hrs out of it, though!

This is the cable I use:
DSD TECH 12v usbc cable (get the “B” for better grip)

Because its Center-Positive, I cut and re-solder the wires to flip the polarity OR if thats not in your skillset, you can just a “5.5 x 2.1mm Jack Reverse Polarity Converter Cable”
