VST3 Hosting Support on Quad Cortex

With Steinberg recently relicensing VST3 under the MIT license, the format is now fully open for integration on any platform. This creates an exciting opportunity for the Quad Cortex.

Adding VST3 hosting support would allow users to load their existing VST3 plugins directly on the Quad Cortex. It would also open the door for the community to develop and share their own VST3 plugins specifically for the QC ecosystem.

I believe this could significantly expand the versatility and creative potential of the Quad Cortex.

Maybe they should hire the guys in stienberg to get the plugins going on the QC…or you could buy a paint audio device

Of course it would be awesome, but it will never happens.

Ndsp already struggle to fulfill their promises, and technically it is not really simple, the QC is not a ‘regular’ computer , the ‘main’ chip is an ARM processor that is not really fast , and is merely used to drive the ‘real-time DSP chips’ (the ‘famous’ quad-core that give the name to the QC) …
I have no doubt that some very talented people could create some very optimized code for the QC , but it would be a real nightmare for NDSP if some third-party plugins cause instability on the QC…

So : yes, great idea. But it will never see the light, imho.

Highly doubtful this would ever happen.

The reason this will never happen is technical and had nothing to do with the license.

I would guess that if it were even remotely possible, NDSP would have done it long ago, as it would have saved them an infinite amount of development work and money integrating their plug-ins into QC. Then the issue would have been resolved long ago and we could concentrate again on things that really advance QC.
