I’ve got a question regarding Neural Plugins and using Stereo guitar pedals…
So I’m not using a Quad Cortex, just Neural plugins. I have a pedal board with various Guitar pedals including a Strymon Timeline and Big Sky. I have them outputting Stereo and have the left and right output connected into my UA Apollo Twin X inputs. When I just hear the guitar with the UA console and hard pan input 1 to the left and input 2 to the right, I can hear my guitar and in glorius stereo (a good test is using a ping pong delay just to make sure both outputs are infact not just playing back in mono).
Anyway, I really want to use my Neural plugins and only use the cabinets (no FX etc) so they act as my amp but use my pedalboard as the front end.
When I load up a Neural plugin, I have no audio. I have Asio set, the correct sample rate, and I have the outputs set to Virtual 1 and 2. In the Apollo Console I have Virtual 1 and 2 monitoring set (the reason I am using the virtual channels is so I can monitor the plugin output but not the dry guitar input on Apollos 1 and 2 (hence why the monitoring for those are turned off).
In the Neural plugin, I have both inputs for the Apollo turned on. I suspect this could be the problem. When I turn one of them off, I hear guitar signal… but then my guitar stereo input isn’t being recorded and therefore my Stereo effects from the STrymon aren’t working.
When I switch the second Input monitoring back on, I still have audio but only for a few minutes before monitoring cuts out completely. Whilst there is audio with both inouts turned on, I am not hearing my guitar Stereo effects in Stereo. I don’t get what’s happening. These plugins fully support stereo input recording.
I am also using Sonarworks for my speaker and headphone correction so perhaps this is causing the problem. I am also on a new computer Windows 11 Pro build (I used to use Mac and never had these problems before).
Anyone experienced anything like this that could give some guidance. Its really frustrating. Guess I’ll have a beer as that will help figure it out and slow the misery down
